Suggestion/Feedback Summary, November 2023

Every month, by request, I will be making a post summarizing that month's anonymous suggestions/feedback, and my response to them. Each submission will have also been shared with the other admins for their feedback as well (especially if the submission specifically pertains to their job), and their views are also expressed here in my summary, as indicated. Feedback from other admins is in their words...I just copy and paste it into the post. 

All suggestions/feedback was anonymous, into the Google Form pinned to the top of this Suggestions section of the forum. The only two questions on the form ask what the suggestion/feedback is, and what today's date is, in order to help sort out when something was submitted. No player information is exchanged.

Suggestion #1: Is there any way you can change up home pages, so that instead of saying when we last bought tickets, it shows when we can NEXT buy them? I always get confused, especially when Feb being a short month.... this would be a big help!

Sooo I just tried messing around with this, did some Googling as to how I could get dates to "math". Either by creating a prompt to get it to add 30 days to the date and display that date where it currently lists "Purchased On" on your homepage, or by mathing whatever the current date is by the date you bought your tickets and it telling you you can buy them in X number of days.

Trying each of those options one at a time broke player pages.

At this point, it's on my list of something to think about to see if I can figure out how to get it to work. I do like the idea though!

Suggestion #2: Isn't HP supposed to block inbreeding for a few generations? How does a pedigree like horse #404241 happen? I don't want to accidentally inbreed!

That is...a very good question.

Did a bunch of testing with breeding my own retired animals through the Cash Shop, where I'm confident the problem lies, who I knew were related to see what it did. It definitely blocks if you tried to breed a retired stallion to his mother (lol). Several breeding-testings later, and I've discovered that apparently if you do any sort of breeding via the Cash Shop that involve giving birth to twins, it's doing something wonky with registering the foals/pups in the lineage table on the database.

I've just spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out how to fix it and no dice, SO I've messaged the big boss to see if she has any ideas on the matter. Like I can see WHAT it's doing every time I do a test-breed, but can't figure out WHY it's inserting the information the way it is.

At the moment, it's all I can say, sorry :(

All that being said, this is a pretty important bug, so I know people like staying anonymous with their feedback, but if you notice a bug like this, PLEASE alert a staff member directly as soon as you notice...don't put it in anonymous feedback!

Suggestion #3: With so few breeds having breed embassies, I would love to trial having people be able to be an ambassador for an additional breed for horses or dogs -- allowing two breeds of horses and two breeds of dogs

Hey HP Fam! We got some Annon feed back recently regarding Breed Embassies, and being able to have a total of 4 embassies. I’m not 100% against this idea, but it does give me pause as many of our current Ambassadors aren’t super active in selling/advertising their Embassies. tbh i forgot hp would warn about inbreeding but i'd also check my horses just to be 100% sure they weren't related, let alone breeding siblings together 🥴
