Buster - Chapter 2

Well, I had this whole thing planned out. I was going to share Buster's life with you guys in steps and go in order. But then life happens and the timing is always just too ironic for coincidence. So were going to skip from the beginning to just a few weeks ago:

Buster had not been feeling quite himself since January- drooling a lot, drinking more than normal, and having what I can only describe as indigestion. I am a vet tech/practice manager so I see sick pets all day. We did bloodwork, x-rays, tried medications, but everything came back normal and nothing seemed to make a difference. Everyone was ready to throw their hands up and say oh well its not a big deal but I knew that something was wrong. I decided to get an ultrasound done first week of February and wham, splenic tumor. A week later (literally the day mascot contest started) Buster went in for surgery to have a splenectomy (removal of the spleen). At the time we knew it was 50/50 that it was cancer or a hematoma from some kind of trauma. Well last week my worst fears were confirmed, Buster has Hemangiosarcoma. Hemangio is one of the worst "C" words a dog can get. ~96% mortality rate by 12 months, so we are guessing Buster has about 6-9 months of life left to live. SO to get on to this weeks activity now that I have you all crying with me (sorry), I am going to make a "Buster Bucket List" and we are going to spend the next 6 months doing things that he (and your pets) love.

SO, for this weeks activity - List 3 things you would have on your dogs bucket list. Could be your pups favorite activities, favorite foods, anything. And if you don't have a dog it could be 3 things you would do if you did have a dog. Post them below to earn 3mil and a check for this chapter to go towards your chance at a 6mo upgrade. I'll start with 3 of Buster's favorites that are definitely going on the list:

1. A day at the Lake

2. A walk around the river trail

3. A car ride to get a pup cup (:

Arzu, I am so sorry. Our dogs arent pets, they are family. Mine are the only babies ill ever have. I'm here for you if you need someone to talk to. Love you xo 

In the meantime, here are 3 things my 3 pups love: 

1. Chicken nuggets from mcdonalds 

2. Day at the beach (or lake) 

3. Trips to visit all of moms work friends at work! 

I currently only have my horse. But I'll share about the last dog, Sammi, that I owned as a kid. She was my heart dog! I did everything with her! She loved:

1. going to our family camp on an island. There was no one else around besides us so she was free to run and roam the island as her heart desired.

2. going on a car ride to the barn with me. Again, I let her run and roam free. The barn owners had like 10 dogs that they would just let roam the property freely too.

3. walking down the waterfront trail and stopping at the ice cream parlor on main Street on the way back home for a doggie dish (it was just a vanilla soft serve in a dish with a milkbone treat on top).

Awh man, I know what it's like to loose your one true dog. I'm sorry, I hope his last few months go with as much love and fun as possible!

1. Love to take my pup to the ocean at least once

2. go to the lake for a boat ride again

3. pup cups for all 3 of mine at once haha

I'm so sorry that the biopsy results weren't in Buster's favour, I can only imagine how tough that must be for you. I hope that your remaining time with him is full of memories that you can cherish forever.

Willow's bucket list would have to be...

- Mountain (ideally, but not necessary if not accessible or within means!) hikes with lots of opportunities to scramble and explore.

- A day that involves lots and lots of swimming - beach, lake, pond, she really isn't fussy!

- A big, big tub of peanut butter all to herself (or as much as can be safely consumed!)

Indy's favorite things: 

- Walks with "grandpa"

- Cow ears

- private dog park runs!

I'm so sorry lovely. Kinda in the same boat with my old girl at the moment, so I know your pain. Sending huge hugs your way < 3
