Is it just me, or does it seem like there are very few active players on here? I'm so happy I finally found something like the old HL, but it would be a lot funner with hundreds of active players on at any given moment. When I logged on today there were only 9 :(

I've noticed there's been a decrease in active players as well. A lot of the older players that I remember have disappeared lol. But again, some people are in school or working so they can't be on all the time. Just wait until summer rolls around, it might get active again.

Weekends are slower on HP, as are nights and holidays. During our peak hours we have 35-55 players online and our monthly hits are only climbing. We aren't a huge game, but we are bigger than most. The best way to bring on more players is to encourage other people to play.Unfortunately, we just don't have the funds or resources to advertise like HL, or Howrse can. I mean HL had a TV show and Howrse got a 3 million dollar fund for advertising a few years ago. Those games have also been around for much, much longer. HL started out small, small, small back in 1994 (which was 19 years ago now!). We just don't have that yet. As the game grows we have more resources, but we only have what players give.In order to bring more players on, you should refer your friends and have them refer people. And on the horse forums or websites you go to ask people if they've tried it or send us the link so we can look into advertising there.

Ok :) It is fun being one of the 'newer' players, I remember on HL low digit accounts were always sought after, but it will be fun in a year or two when HP grows a little bigger. I really am very happy to have found this game, I looked for a long time for a game like the old HL before I found a link in a form to this site! Other sites like virtual horse ranch and howrse just aren't the same. Sadly in my age range I have no friends who would be interested in playing, they're to busy raising babies. My baby is due in April, but I think I'll still find time to get on and do my training :)

Just a thought... Most online games I have ever played have a way to fund the game. Most of those funds coming from being able to buy game currency with real dollars. I know what your going to say, that will just make some people very rich, while others don't have the means to purchase. But hey, it works for those games. I've played many where I got by just fine in the game without spending a dime. Yes you can buy upgrades, but I know I.would spend a few extra dollars on top of my upgrade cost in order to be able to afford a fancy layout from the auctions. Like I.said, just a thought.

I dont really like the idea of being able to buy HPD. Buying it 'direct' means you are not really giving anything important back to the game except money for fixes/advertising. Where as I love the upgrade system. People can buy money by offering the upgrades for sale which in return gives something back to us as a community (helping others) as well as still supplying money to HP for fixes and advertisement.

Sam has HPD sales occasionally, and to be honest I like it the way it is. I feel like having HPD available for sale all of the time would offer an unfair advantage to the people that can afford to buy it regularly. It wouldn't help the economy at all either because the people that CAN afford to buy it directly from Sam would be less inclined to care about rising prices. It might work well for other games, but I really don't think it would suit HP.

Yeah, I'm not for directly buying HPD. And we do just fine with upgrades. We are just a smaller game. The games you're talking about make MILLIONS of dollars each year.

I like HP the way it is, as well. (:As natural progressions go, it's only a matter of time before it gets more players, too.

Yes do not change HP. Except in adding decent new features. Horseland sucks now because they added the wrong features.

I like it the way it is I agree I play a game where you can buy money and it just makes it harder on the players who don't have the funds to just buy....Also in time it will grow we just have to advertise

When I left HL, you could buy packs of their currency and I didn't think that was fair. Newer/younger players who don't have access to funds like the adults do have an unfair advantage. Thus the gap between the rich players and the poor players gets bigger and bigger. So I definitely like how things are here. :)
