I would really LOVEEEE to get this breed added! :D I also did a quick search to see if hp has already had this dog, and from what I was able to tell, is that indeed no hp hasn't had this breed before.

About the breed

The Estrela Mountain Dog is a ancient and versatile breed, as evidenced by its recognition in various breed groups in different kennel clubs: Working in AKC, Mountain Types in the FCI and the Guardian Dog group in the United Kennel Club. Estrela Mountain Dogs were orginally developed to be livestock guardians in the mountains of Portugal. They are also known as the Cao da Serra da Elstrela. Today, they're utilized by the Marine and Portuguse police and are valuved for their loyalty, alertness and intelligence.

Characteristics

Estrela mountain dogs are large guard dogs that are good at herding flocks. Their thick coats protect them from the outdoor elements and their attitudes are protective of the people they love. They have characteristic hooked tails and double dew claws, can have either a short or long coat, and can be wary of strangers but form strong bonds with their owners.

Coat: Thick coat with long or short hair

Coat Colors: Fawn, Yellow, Wolfgray or brindle.

History

Ancestral records of the original Estrela mountain dogs are lacking but there is no doubt that this breed is one of the oldest in Portugal. Despite this, the breed didn't have written standards until the early 1920s when the first attempt at developing a breed standard was created. Breed standards evolved over a decade and eventually, the first official breed standard was solidified in 1933. Since then, the breed has continued to act as guardian dogs protecting flocks but are also now used as police dogs in Portugal, too.

I am pretty sure it says on the requirements post you need 5 breeders to add a brand new non-wild/mythical breed (those need 8 breeders), so I think you can submit the breed! :D
