Server Migration

HP is moving servers!

Without getting too techy...our current server is at the end of its life AND we've outgrown it (which is likely the cause of why the crons failed a month ago). In the next week or so, HP will be moving servers.

What does this mean?

Hopefully it will mean little in the grand scheme of the functioning of HP. The new server is with the same provider. They've assured me there will be no downtime. It's also not a scheduled thing (eg. I can't schedule it to happen on Friday at 9pm), but with their claim of no downtime, I'm hoping it won't matter that it's not scheduled. 

Why am I telling you this?

In case it doesn't work the way they claim it will LOL. Luckily we're having this done now that I'm off work for the summer, so if something DOES go wrong (-knock on wood-), I'm around to deal with it and not limited to non-day job hours. 

In the event something breaks during this migration (whenever it happens...even I don't know specifically when it'll happen), we will deal with it accordingly.

So fingers crossed for a seamless transition!

Same with the Lab Ray on Neopets: it can just zap a pet to a different gender! XD

I'm confused... what does that mean that HP is moving servers? I guess I just don't really understand what this all means. 

Pretty much we're moving to a bigger "house" if you will. The server is where all the HP information (data, site code, programmed stuff, crons, etc) lives. 

We've outgrown our house and are moving to a bigger one.

I panicked a little when I read anything to do with 'server' the last horse game I loved mentioned servers and got shut down! 

the mini panic is over once I read the rest though~

I read this as "severe migraine"  -air high five- to me who can't read!

Hopefully it will not end up as a migraine for Blitz. 🤣🤞
