For contest 4, we are doing a mini internet scavenger hunt. I want you to find one image that you feel represents your mascots personality, one that does NOT represent it, but represents the OPPOSITE, one image that represents your mascot's mate, and one image that marks the amount of fun you've had with the contest!

Wasteland's name comes from a song by the band 10 Years, which is really important to me. It has been one of my favorite songs for a few years now. Here are some of the lyrics of the song: "Change my attempt. Good intentions. Should I, could I?" it's basically about wanting to have good intentions and change from where they used to be in life.

Chipped N Starstruck: 

Loosely based off a mare I lost, I derived the name Chipped N Starstruck for a yearling I was going to register in her memory. Unfortunately I had to get rid of him, so chose to use the name for the mascot contest. 

Call Me Ol' Red

While thinking of a name for him, I thought back to the song "Ol' Red" by Blake Shelton. So, decided to use that as an inspiration for the name with a twist.

Rebecca is easy. She's a character in the manga/anime One Piece, which fits into the theme of my whole line. She's currently a major part of the story arc if you watch the anime and is a controversial character as well due to the lingering on her story. Some think she might become one of the Strawhat pirates and they do not want her.

Her backstory will be told shortly. 

Roelof and Gift Lifter:

Since the contest started around Christmas time (which happens to be my favorite holiday!), I wanted to choose Christmas type names. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is such a classic tale, so I somehow wanted to incorporate that into my horse; Roelof. Roelof happens to be a varient of the name Rudolph. For Gift Lifter, I thought long and hard about a Christmas story I could create involving a dog. His name gives a little light into what his story will intale! 

Shadowmare is a mish-mash of Linwood's addiction to Skyrim (more specifically the character of Shadowmere, if I [Andromeda] am correct), and as the quote on her picture states, it is of the shadow that the light of love casts - the shadow that one cannot see until trapped within the confines of loving someone or something.

Solar Breeze (#241351)


13/14 year old me who just discovered the joy of role playing on the Thunder Hoof Herds site wanted to come up with an awesome Light Stallion, but lacked super creativity in names. Solar Breeze was the final result of combining something astronomy and nature based all the while not sounding too girly, hah! He turned into an awesome character that stuck around for quite a while and had many adventures, so this would be my HP Tribute to my Solarmun. *hugs*

Alright...so I aza bought Speechless from the store and we hadnt thought of a name...and since I didnt wanna keep it as nameless, I used Speechless instead...sounded better than nameless! lol

Kinda went with the fact that she is also a spotless appy!

and for Omega...it sorta went with her lines( alpha x beta). When I saw "alpha" I automatically assume alpha and omega.....therefore...Omega!

I now see we shoulda named her Alphabet Soup!!! lol

California Dreamin' comes from the famous song by The Mamas and Papas. The chorus deals with "California Dreamin' on such a winters day". As I currently live in Canada full-time but visit southern California often, it deals with all of the times I wish I were in California when it is snowing and -30 degrees outside. And by "all of the times", I basically mean all the time. Can't beat that weather!

Salus is the greek goddess of protection. Dire Wolves are a fiercly protective breed, and also an obviously mythical creature, so we thought a goddess whose protection is based in loyality would fit the breed well. :)

Nella Vittoria is Italian and translates to "In Victory" :)

Shadow comes from well... Shadow. He was my newest gone to heaven furbaby (border collie/lab cross). He crossed the rainbow bridge just before Halloween ate the ripe age of 14! So why not a better time to train a tribute for him!

Geaux with the Fleaux: A cajunified version of go with the flow! A fairly chill swamp dog who loves chilling with the catfish and gators, cajun to the core.

Gar-Ici: Cajun for Look Here! A flashy female (what else!) who loves to drag Geaux along because she knows he will.

Sitron → Is the actual name of Prince Hans's Fjord in the movie Frozen.  The movie is what spiked our interest in doing a Fjord project, and what our back story is loosely based off of! 

Sitrus → As Sitron's mate we wanted a similar name.  Sitron is Norwegian for lemon so we figured we would name her Sitrus which is Norwegian for.. *surprise!* citrus. haha.  We liked how the two names together sounded so we kept it!

Morganite is named after the previous morganite stone known for its magnificent champagne hues. She was named this because of her shimmering coat common within Akhal-Tekes and also because of the rarity of the breed itself when compared with the precious stone.
