Hi there! On one of my spare accounts I've decided to start breeding Argentine Dogos but I'm finding a lack of stock pictures for them on dA (or any other site, for that matter). Does anybody have any suggestions or other places that may have free Dogo stock for use on here? I've also tried looking for white-colored mastiffs/bullies/etc but I'm finding a lack of those as well. My third option was taking a dog stock image similar in size and looks to the Dogo and just recoloring it to white, but I'm not sure how well that will work out...how well does recoloring a darker-colored dog into a white-colored dog work out? I've never really recolored fur/skin, but I have recolored manes, tails, and human hair. Does anybody have any recoloring tutorials they would recommend for going from dark to light in recolors?

(My final option is to try drawing but I really don't want to go there haha)

I tried a search on Flickr just for "Dogo".  There seems to be SOME here.  Not a whole heck of a lot, but there are some cute poses!

As for recoloring, Freia showed me how to do that forever and a day ago, and I have since forgotten.  Maybe someone else could help out with that?  What program do you use?  Have you looked up any tutorials?

I breed Dogos and I can't find hardly any stock. Like Tronic said, there are some on Flickr but I've used (I think) almost all of them. I've been trying to track some down at dog shows that I go to but there aren't ever any around (they are AKC registered but I guess they are so rare in California, none come).

I also know that they can be a banned breed, so that also might be why they are rare and not a lot of stock.

Oh, and I'm also horrible at recolouring so no help there, sorry. There's a couple tutorials on DA that I've used (of course I can't find them now). I haven't used this one but it seems okay: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Horse-Recoloring-Tut-Pt-1-119812283

I use Photoshop CS. I've found some tutorials for doing stuff like roaning, paint spots, etc. but I haven't found any that specifically go from a dark color to a light color. I'll check out the tutorials and I'll check out the Flickr page for some possible stock photos that I maybe can recolor or use as a reference for actually drawing the dog.

They are a rare breed in the U.S. (and the world in general, actually) and yes they are banned in many areas (even more so than a lot of other bullies, which is weird because they have a much calmer demeanor). I've only ever seen one in my area and it was a mixed breed. My fiance wants one as his next service animal but I don't know if we'll be able to find one without importing it. If I do get one I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to post as stock haha!

Definitely! I used to work at a doggy daycare and I have THOUSANDS of dog stock pictures that I have never uploaded. I might go through those and see if I can find any of that mixed breed I was talking about above. Otherwise I'll put everything else up on my dA for people to use. I'm surprised that dA doesn't have a lot of quality dog stock...even for popular breeds like German Shepherds and Labs. It seems like the same dogs over and over, unlike the horses for which there are THOUSANDS of pictures haha.
