hi all :} my wife was a big horseland player back in the day and she found HP and we both decided to play together. i wanted to reach out and say hi hi hi, but also ask a few questions about some of the HP lingo/culture that i've seen just clicking around. 1. what do people mean by backups? i've seen this on horse selling threads and in stables? 2. is there a general purpose of buying a horse over the retirement age from another player? do people do this somtimes to be able to breed them with the perks that you an buy at the cash shop? 3. "another [breed] presented by [x]" - i think i got this one down but whatever confirmation that this is just something people do so they're not making manips for every single horse they breed haha 4. in horseland people charged for stable fees but it seems like that's not part of HP culture here? or maybe i'm just not seeing it? 5. in the welcome message it said that selling training tickets was a way for new players to get money up front. should i be selling them or using them? does it matter right away or no? 6. i love everyone's stable themes and stuff... this is just an observation on how creative and wonderful this community is already! these are the questions i couldn't find an answer to after reading through most of the "How do I..." page— REALLY great way to set up on how the mechanics of the game work BUT, i know the mechanics and the culture of how things are usually done don't alwayes mesh, so i thought i would reach out and see if there are any veretan HL/HP players who have some insight on how people do things! ok thanks hehe |

Hello, and welcome to both of you! Here is some answers to your questions: 1. Most people train 1 pair, a male and female, to breed to eacch other when it is time. The usual breedings are at 18 and 20 for horses and 13 and 15 for dogs. This gets the babies the best points you can. There is a lot of reasons for breeding back ups and the biggest reason, I would say anyways, is to make a little money off their sale. I have also ended up keeping back ups to pair with other lines to condense down the lines. I think back up's started as a tradition in the beginning before you could buy gender changes in the cash shop. So you would breed a back up in case you didn't get the right gender. 2. Not really most people only wannaa retirement breed what they put time into. Plus people wanna keep their lines safe. I guess you could offer to pay for the retirement breeding/ use of the animals while they kept the parents maybe? 3. You got it correctly. Lot's of people, myself included, have a lot of animals and unless you can make them yourself it can get expensive to buy them all a custom image so people do one generic to make it easier. 4. It is something you can do here it's just not too popular cause most people have their own stable/kennels to board in. But I know there are quite a few people that offer free board and feed! 5. I would sell them while you are starting out so you can earn some money while you figure out how the game works. :) 6. Having a custom layout is a BIG part of the game. It's a lot of fun to wonder around and check out all the different styles people have. Hopefully this was helpful! |
