For those no longer in school: What things do you remember about it?

For those still in school: What do you remember about your younger school years, before high school/other education?

A random thing I was reminded of was backing my textbooks. I was in primary school at the time, and we had to do this in my P6 and P7 (6th and 7th years before high school) to protect our books. Many of us used leftover wallpaper, but then one day someone had the idea of using aluminium foil, and that was a gamechanger! Lovely and shiny, and had that distinct sound that foil makes. AND you could carefully draw or write on them, press your thumb or finger onto the word/image, and it would be like a little tattoo. 

Another thing I was reminded of was when in high school, we did projects/presentations on paper, then put them into "fancy" plastic folders with clear fronts. Inside were metal...flaps(?) that you inserted into the papers' holes, then pressed down again to keep them secure. There was also a paper strip that you wrote on then slid into a pocket on the edge of the front cover.

Edit: Also, I haaaaated seeing BACK TO SCHOOL! stuff in the supermarkets IN AUGUST because that meant summer was almost over. BOOOOOO!

You've totally unlocked a memory about covering the school books thing. We had to do it in secondary school, I remember going to B&Q to get wallpaper samples and choosing a space/planet themed one for my science book haha. No one did the tinfoil thing here!

I remember sitting out on the school oval in the stinking Australian heat eating a chocolate custard and sneaking text messages on our old Nokia bricks (we couldn't have phones at school).
No idea why this is so vivid, lol.
