Figured it was about time I made an actual post about this...

The horse show cron and I don't get along. It pretty much hates me and wants to make my life hell.

Why? If I knew, I would have fixed it long before now lmao.

I have tried what feels like everything:

- contacted the server about it (multiple times, they're kinda useless)
- tried upping the amount of time before it dies mid-run. Several times.
- tried splitting it into two crons. Which is where the ghost shows came from (don't worry, I killed that experiment).
- looked at the code to try to figure out why it fails. Many times. So has Sam. Even ran it through ChatGPT to see if it had any suggestions. 
- adjusted the timing for when other crons run, to make sure the horse show cron is the only one running at that time.

No dice.

At this point, it seems to run perfectly fine on its own in its entirety on Mondays and Tuesdays, but fails the rest of the week half-way through. It's been like that for two weeks now. It also only seems to affect the horse show cron, not the dog one (which are virtually the same minus the species). 

What does this mean?

This means that every morning, my alarms go off, I crack an eye open, squint at my phone screen (because I'm basically blind without my glasses lol), open HP, and do a show search to see if I have to run the horse show cron manually before I leave for work. On the days I do, I fire up my laptop, click the link to start the cron running, then go about my day. This is typically done between 7-8am HP time. On average, it seems to take 2-2.5 hours to run when I'm doing it manually, so if you look and your horse shows haven't run one morning, check back in a few hours. 

I've asked Sam and she's hopefully lined up someone to take a look at it and hopefully fix it. Or rewrite the code. Or perform an exorcism. Whatever. I'll try to keep everyone updated on that front.

ugh it's gotta be a pain, especially since the dog show crons work just fine.. and it's weird that it works a couple days but the rest of the week it doesn't.

Just noting that the horse cron failed last night after a whole week of good behaviour, but it's currently in the process of running and has been for about an hour!

Noting that the horse cron didn't run last night after a full week of good behaviour (boo!). I manually ran it at ~11am today (which is when I woke up...oops), and it is still currently running.

Edit: Shows have now run as of 3pm!

Just noting that, while the horse show cron has been behaving itself (-frantically knocks on wood-), it didn't run overnight. It's currently running now!
