It may not seem very Christmas-y, but my all time favorite thing to bake (and my family's- i make it for every holiday including Christmas lol) is Dolly Parton's Banana Pudding Cake. Here is a link to the recipe, and a photo of the last one that I made!

At my house, Christmas isn't complete without peanut butter blossoms - although I usually sub out the regular hershey kisses for the peppermint-striped ones instead. My grandma used to use red and green sugar to roll to cookies in to be more festive, although I've never gone that far.

Mrs. Fields marble cookies are an absolute must everytime my family makes Christmas cookies. They have been my favorite since I was a little kid. Instead of chocolate chips just being mixed in, you swirl melted chocolate into the batter and they stay soft and chewy once they're cool. I always prefered this over regular chips that harden up.

Super easy, requires no baking but people have been asking for them for Christmas for years; salted caramel pretzels.

My family loves to make traditional Scandinavian treats like krumkake, lefse, and kringle around Christmastime. 

I know that my mom and I have made these together and there is photo documentation SOMEWHERE xD but it's not on my phone photos so I'm not sure where they're at haha.

I made these today for the first time and they were pretty yummy. I used mint Oreos, so they felt a bit more Christmassy. Oh, and the recipe seems to have forgotten to tell us when to add the vanilla, I just added it with the sugar. =)

Marinka’s Pea Soup (Dutch "Snert")


Ingredients:
1 smoked sausage (rookworst)
2 to 3 pork chops
Optional: bacon bits
1 pack of split peas (500 grams)
1 onion
1 leek
 ½ celeriac (celery root)
 2 to 3 liters of water
 2 vegetable stock cubes
2 bay leaves


Instructions:
Chop the vegetables.
Rinse the split peas thoroughly until the foam disappears.
 In a large pot, combine the water, stock cubes, and split peas.
  Place the pork chops on top.
Bring to a boil. Once the pork chops are cooked through, remove them from the soup, take the meat off the bones, and discard the bones.
Return the meat to the pot and continue cooking, stirring regularly.
 When the peas have broken down and the soup starts to thicken, add the chopped vegetables and bay leaves.
 Slice the smoked sausage and add it to the soup, along with the optional bacon bits.
Let the soup simmer until everything is fully cooked and tender.

Now you have Dutch pea soup!
Let it sit for a day to deepen the flavors, and you’ve got yourself a delicious pot of traditional snert!

I just LOVE giving on Christmas so, I actually make homemade hot chocolate for everyone and put all the ingredients into a mason jar. That way when they are ready to use it all they have to do it pour the mason jar into a small pot and add milk. SO good.

and the burger itself isn't homemade, but i made the buns and constructed the whole thing.....it was soo delicious!! found a way to cook the burger and it be soo juicy and flavourful (you turn the burger once.  wait half a minute than you add your cheese and put a lid on it- by the time the cheese is melted your burger is done and its so full of flavour!!
