MY GLUESTICK IS OFF STALL REST

Since my horse is an accident-inducing oversized toddler, I lovingly call him my overpriced gluestick. That being said, he's family and here to stay forever.
THAT BEING SAID. He had surgery about 3-4 months ago (lateral plantar nerve neurectomy and fasciotomy AND bone cyst removal....he goes hard) and has been on stall rest since. He's been handling it like a champ (better than me, honestly) but we had his recheck yesterday and was officially cleared by the vet to start slowing phasing into turn out time. So I had to blast it out into the world. Picture of the beast. Please ignore his lack of muscle. He lost so much of it. We have a long ways to go once he's sound for work again :( #TBproblems That's it. :) |

Yay! He's so handsome. Congrats on getting a step closer every day (and also-- it sounds like he is REALLY LUCKY to have you) |

I took one look at his photo and was not surprised at all he was a TB 😭🤣 glad he gets to go into the out now! Just tell him to make good life choices. |

Glad he is on the ment. My mare has been unsound since June of 2024 and she has just been an expensive pasture ornament since then lol
I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone. Robin Williams |

@Daenerys - he genuinely struggles with good life choices. First month I had him, he kicked at the gate and somehow managed to rip off a third of his hoof (I still dont know HOW). I went from a super gritty QH who remained fat on air to a hard keeper TB with suicidal ideation. It's been an adjustment lol
@Fantasy - noooo I'm sorry. That's always hard :( |

Horses are on a perpetual mission to kill themselves in the most creative ways possible, I stg. My Arab gelding manages ALL sorts of things where I'm like "You could have killed yourself but somehow you didn't." When I had him boarded my BM sent me a photo where he'd clipped the front of his blanket to the fence and got himself stuck, but his feeder was in front of his face and he just stood there like "I'll just wait until someone finds me." But when he was a stallion he got himself into all sorts of issues. I feel for you, hopefully your boy catches a break! |

I will say, I was surprised and grateful at just how well he handled stall rest. His first day of turn out and he was just as happy to stand and eat his hay. Which is good because hes been on extended stall rest 3 times in 2 years🫠. Im really hoping that this surgery is the fix to get him back in consistent work again 😭
Thank you space! Hes a warmblood dupe when hes all muscled up and in shape |
