weather you're about to celebrate thanksgiving, or if you've already celebrated it, what are some traditions on thanksgiving you and your freinds/family do every year? i'm 31, and for as long as i could remember, we've never had rolls for thanksgiving. not because we don't like them, but because we always forgot them in the oven and by the time anyone remembered about them, it was too late. they were goners. burnt to a crisp in the oven. two years ago i actually got to break this "tradition" and i made the most beaitful golden brown rolls anyone gad ever seen. and i've been boasting about it ever since.

Every Thanksgiving before we eat, we go around the table and say what we are all thankful for! It's really neat to hear all the things my family are thankful for! :D If points are an option, Cassiopeia will take them please: https://horsephenomena.com/dogs.php?id=199775 , thank you! :) |

Recently, my husband smokes a turkey every year for his family's gathering, but my grandma used to host when she was alive and made sooooo much food! Rolls, stuffing, green bean casserole, creamed corn, pies, etc. SO MUCH! I miss her Thanksgivings. Her tradition was having all of us kids go through the Toys'R'Us and JC Penney catalogs and circle what we wanted for Christmas. ![]() |

The night before Thanksgiving my family and friends attend "The Bonfire" held by the high school we used to attend. It serves as a pep rally of sorts for the big football game the next day, though we never cared about the game itslef. We just like going to see a massive pile of wood being lit on fire. There's a big parade with the high school band, a lightning ceremony, and then it usually is lit for the rest of the night.Β We usually stay for an hour or two before going to Olive Garden that's nearby. The only time we don't go to the bonfire is if there's an active or priorrainstorm, because then it's a horrifically muddy mess. XD |

Most of my immediate family used to go to Florida every year and we couldn't because I had school and now work, so we used to go to my mom's cousin's house every thanksgiving since they were local and also stayed in town, so it would always be just be a few of us. We used to have a sleepover every year and after thanksgiving dinner all of us kids used to go through the ads for black friday and then our moms would leave at midnight to go black friday shopping, armed with our christmas lists and we would pull out the hide-a-bed in the living room and watch christmas movies and eat leftovers until the wee hours of the morning. Now we usually go to my in-laws for a proper Thanksgiving lunch, but my husband and I usually buy a premade thanksgiving dinner from the store to be able to have leftovers during our Christmas movie binge on thanksgiving night. |

We all gather at my parents-in-law's house for the whole day. We all watch the Macy's Thanksgiving parade together first thing in the morning, and eat all kinds of different horderves all day. And later, all the guys sit and watch whatever the football game is that day (it seems like its always the same 2 teams every year: the Lions, and I dont remember the other one). The big meal for the day is usually around 1 or 2 PM. Then no one ever wants to eat again, so we all just have pie at supper time. ![]() |

One of the traditions that is throughout my family on both sides is to have some traditional scandinavian dishes for the holidays. Christmas, especially, but also Thanksgiving. Specifically around Thanksgiving time, a bunch of family members on my mom's side gets together to make giant batches of lefse that we can eat and then freeze batches that will last through the winter. Seen here: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/18082/norwegian-lefse/ If there's not lefse at Thanksgiving or Christmas, there's usually an uproar. xD Β If there's points, gimme points to https://horsephenomena.com/horses.php?id=394364 ![]() |

We all get together at my mom's house for lunch on Thanksgiving every year (: our family is growing by 3 this year as my sister is getting married on New Year's so him and his two kiddos are joining. And while it's not technically Thanksgiving, we always pick what day we are going to get together to icing my family's homemade Christmas cookies. We always do it shortly after Thanksgiving because we can't wait until Christmas to make and eat them! :D If points are an option Azara will take them :D https://horsephenomena.com/dogs.php?id=197665

This is a silly one but, hosting Thanksgiving with my husband and having his sisters over is ours. Before I met him I had SUCH a horrible view of Thanksgiving because in my family there was nothing good that came of the day - just arguments and tension. For 7 years I purposely would pick up the Thanksgiving shift at my work so I would have an excuse to not go to Thanksgiving Dinner with my family.Β My husband has finally made Thanksgiving enjoyable for me and we always start the morning off with Apple Cider Mimosas and the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. He cooks the Turkey and I make all the sides (they're my favorite!).Β Β |
