Retiring Animals

I know when you retire a horse or dog on HP, it's deleted, but the pedigree or offspring [of that animal] don't have broken lines. What I'm wondering is how many players on HP actually click the "Retire" button on their old animals? I've noticed there are players who have "retirement accounts" or still have their old animals on an account. Also, I wonder will the retired animals show up in a search? Like, for example, if I wanted to see all the animals with my brand, could I search my brand and the retired animals also come up?

I guess I'm still a little paranoid from HorseLand, because I currently don't retire any of my animals, but I'm getting a little tired of them taking up space in my Stable/Kennel and I kind of want to use the account they are on for actively training a breed. I'm just still unsure if I should retire my animals.

No they do not show up in a search and, other than showing in pedigrees, they are removed from rhe game. I just have a retirement.

I retire everything of mine. I just make sure to add their points into the name before I do. You can view it all from their offspring's page and I don't have to worry about maintaining a retirement.

I keep a retirement too, mainly just because I like looking at it sometimes :P I enjoy seeing my work all lined up like that.

I keep all of mine, because I like collecting them :)

But I think many people do use the retire function. They do NOT show up in the search, but they will show up in pedigrees and you can view some of their basic info that way. Retired horses/dogs are filed as 'deceased' animals, so they still have a page with their info on it, but nothing else.

With the system we have, there's no reason to keep them, other than if you just enjoy keeping/collecting them like I do.

The only "functional" reason to keep them is if you ever want to do a retirement breeding or a resurrection :). They will never be fully deleted or lines broken, and all of their basic info (name, points, picture, etc.) is saved so you can still see it if you want to.

Does not retiring animals affect HP's system, like slow down the servers or something?Β

Yeah I just hated having a dedecated retirement account and having a million more animals to keep track of. You could likely throw everything on a basic though and just keep the animals boarded at your own stables.

i believe blitz and tronic have the majority of my old lines though

I also have a retirement account; I don't really care if an animal is retired in my lines.. However, I know a lot of people consider it "broken lines" and is a big "no-no".Β
