I've been thinking of dyeing my hair a fun colour for liek 5ever and I've still never done it.. originally I wanted to do a teal ombre, but now I'm thinking pink.. Not NEON pink.. I would say pastel, but my hair is sort of medium blonde and I don't plan to bleach it at all, so it won't /really/ be pastel.. but like 'muted' I suppose..

So, since I've literally never dyed my hair, at home, professionally or otherwise.. I have no idea what I'm doing :P Can anyone recommend good brands for a nice pink shade? Also I don't want permanent, preferably something that will wash out, so I guess semi-permanent?? I literally have no idea.. HALP. And i prefer a warmer pink, more on the orange side, rather than blue-ish pink.. so brand/color recommendations again?

Also, tips on how to do it properly... I'll probably get my friend to help me who has her hair every different colour imaginable, but like I want to know what's going on haha. I'm also still deciding between doing my whole head, or more of an ombre fading into the pink..

i use to have my entire head hot pink at one point. and i severly miss it. but i also have red hair so to get the obnoxious hot pink i had to bleach it. 
I would love to do it again but have a personal mommy complex i am fighting against so yea :(

i use to do all the red/pink colors also in random strips, vampire red was my fav :)

Manic panic is love. Manic panic is life. You can get it at a beauty supply for about 20 bucks, but a little goes a long way.

Since manic is a non ammonia based dye, it's safe for your hair. Has no strong odor. Since you don't have to mix anything you can just keep whatever you don't use. It only took me a quarter of a pot to do half my hair.

Over blonde, even a dark a blonde as yours you'd be amazed but it can still get pretty bright. But if you don't want it crazy, just leave it in for the recommended half hour, hour. Instead of sleeping in it overnight with a bag on your head. It will absolutely wash out. And for a while (as is the case with all unnatural dyes) you will have pink all over your whole life for a few washes.

I'm planning on using it to keep both my crimson and royal purple bright between full dye jobs.

Also they sell a pastelizer that can turn any of the hair dies to pastel colors :)

I think i've read that you can dillute the base dye with a white conditioner and it lightens the colour a bit? So you just sort of whiten it with the conditioner until the dye is the colour you want your hair to be.. I don't want it super pale because it wouldn't really show up on my hair, but i dont want vibrant hot pink either :p I'll have to take a trip to some different stores.. I'm gonna see if I can find it anywhere else than sally's.. there arne't any downtown for whatever reason, all are like a 30 minute drive away.. you'd think they would have these things in downtown toronto..

basically with the manic panic pastelizer you add whatever manic panic color you want to it a little at a time until you get your desired color and then apply as normal. ive never personally mixed with conditioner to dye, i only would add color to conditioner as a way to reboost the color in my hair when i would wash my hair.

Manic panic is really quite good! But also make sure you don't make it tooooo light by dilutiing it as your hair is dark as it is. 

Ombre would look cool but tbh I'd just go the whole hog and have a pink head for a little while ^^ If you ever need to lighten it just use anti-dandruff shampoo.. it randomly gets rid of colour quicker than all the other shampoos :/

Yes after looking, I think their cotton candy with a pastelizer would get pretty close to that!

or get the cotton candy AND lavender and mix the two. it will most likely get you this exact color :)
