Hey guys!

So I'm moving on the 1st into my first house!! *screams a little* I need help picking a color of funiture and stuff to match the coloring of the house! I love when everything just matches so perfect in a home so I want to know what colors are used in your house as for your wall paint to matching the funiture like tv stands, sofas, rugs, pillows, etc! Shows pics if you like cause once my house is finished I will be posting some pics!

My new house is a light tan color () and most of the stuff I have is black but I got to get a new sofa and pillows for the sofas and new rug and some other stuff and need advice of what colors I should get to match the wall color and floors (also light tan) and black tv stand I have and chairs I have (black and tan). What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Yay! That's exciting :).

My house is all gray and blue, basically, haha. The previous owners painted the walls gray (which sounds weird, but isn't), and then they had some blue curtains up so that's sort of what we've stuck with!

I'll post some pictures of the real estate ads before we moved in, but if I remember, I'll take some pics and edit later with our furniture and stuff so you can see more of the color scheme we're going with!

We're stuck in a white and tan apartment that we can't do terribly much with (... like rip out all the carpet because I HATE carpet).

However, well... Everything we own basically came out of Halloween USA. Like our futon when it isn't serving as my Ex's bed has a black and silver bat sheet thrown over it. Our cat's food mats are spiders and skulls. Our salt and pepper shakers are pumpkins. All our hand towells are spiders and skulls. We have a skull lace valence over the bedroom window. Our coasters are all skulls... My bedroom is all black and white brocade with purple.

And that hideous tan carpet.

Black and tan is a good colour combination, because both are colour neutral, so it leaves you a bit open on decor.  Green, for example, goes well with, as does navy and teal.

I recommend going to a hardware store that sells paint and getting some of their pre-matches paint books.  They will have 3-4 colours in a swatch that 'go' together.  http://painttool.canadiantire.ca/en/?adlocation=CLP_Tools & Hardware:Paint & Stains_MMB1_Lifestyle_paintselector15312_en is an online one from Canadian Tire that helps you set it up before you commit to money spent.

My house personally looks awful now because Im mudding walls, have a rug torn out but the laminate was delayed arriving... drama with renos.  BUT WHEN ITS DONE.  The colours are:  My couches are brown, with western accents.  The wood is dark brown (think chocolate), and the cushions have five shades of brown.  My walls are a light beige, my trim and curtains are the chocolate brown.  My table, coffee table, etc are the darker colour.  The doors and some accent pieces are a mid-tone brown.  :p  Its basically country living browns.  Why?  Because I paint bright splashy pieces, so the backdrop needs to be neutral!

The landlord painted the interior of my house each room a different bright color, so the kitchen is sunny yellow, the "dining"/entry room is a tangerine, my bedroom and bathroom is blue, the laundry room and upstairs is a limey green and then there's one red wall. So, it's hard for me to buy somehting I like on a whim because if it's a bright color or let's say the object is blue and I wanted to put it by the tangerine wall, it'll clash. So I've decided everything I buy for the house is going to be neutrally colored (specifically gray or white).

Black and tan do go well together, the trouble for me with black (btw black is my favorite color) is that it shows EVERYTHING! Every particle of dust floating in your home. I'm a house cleaner and people with black refrigerators, stoves, and espcially couches drive me crazy because it feels like I can't get them clean.

So to help with choosing colors, I'd go with an actual color. Anything goes with tan since it's neutral (except maybe yellow or white), so what's you favorite color? Also, maybe think about how bright or dark you want your home to be. Black will make things seem smaller and darker but a brighter color like teal or green will make it light, brighter, and larger looking.

That may have been a lot of rambling, but I hoped I helped some!

Mine seriously depend on the room.  We are quite diverse in our decorating.  75% of the house looks like a lodge, and the other 25% is how we are feeling at the moment. lol.  I don't have pictures of the whole house but I do have these!

Bits and pieces of the living room and family room (just to see our decorating style and colors):

It totally depends on your decorating style and the theme you want to go with for the house.  We are totally rustic capid so if you need suggestions on that I can totally help lol.  I just need to take most recent pictures.

We just redid my bedroom (I'd post a picture but it's quite chaotic atm) and we did light blue/grey walls with a navy and white duvet cover. Curtains are navy and white as well, and the bed armour(?) are white. It's nice and fresh, I like it.
