Our house, which we moved into in December, is only partially fenced. So, basically we have to fence one side (the long side, like 130 feet), and then add the two gates to have a fully fenced in yard. We were planning to do chain link since it's cheaper and needs less upkeep work. However, I've caught the neighbor kids in our yard a few times and so I think maybe a privacy fence is a better option since a chain link they could just hop over if they wanted. Plus then we could lock it and not have to worry about people getting around to our back door or windows or anything. Does anyone have any experience with putting up a wooden privacy fence? Did it shade your yard a lot? Did you do it yourself? Was it worth it? I'm new to all of this, and no one I know really has anything helpful to offer in the fencing department. |

I HAVE DONE ALL THE FENCING. Seriously, I just finished fencing my yard with wood panels. It does shade the yard, but the amount of shade depends on how the sun shines and the height of fence - mine is Dozer-proofed at six feet. I like it because it cost more, but it gives me a happier feeling. And honestly, it's easy to install - the only negative is staining it does suck. |

I honestly HATE chain fence. It's my backyard not the neighbors. They don't need to see what I'm doing. And home improvements are a right off anyways ;) |

Brian has a 6' privacy fence too. It didn't really offer us that much shade though. Link Tree |
