So I got to try out a horse on June 1st, vetted him on June 8th and bought him that same day since he cleared his vet check. He's also the reason I have to quit HP for the time being (I want to return in the future, just don't know when it will be possible) and 'going out with a bang' dog project as my maybe last project on HP.

Meet Chips;

He's a 3 year old registered rose grey AQH gelding. His full name is Chips A Glow. I've definitely got my work cut out for me since he's only 3, but he doesn't seem like a 3 year old when you ride him.

Update on Chips:

I have come to the decision to sell him, for one he doesn't actually want to be an English horse and prefers Western. After working with him for a year and a half in English and fighting with him, then putting him back in a Western saddle to not have as much of a fight made me realize that he really just wants to do what he was bred for and that's Western Pleasure. There's also issues with my mental health and dealing with him on the ground that comes into play with this since he's got an aggressive/mouthy side.

So back to the horse shopping for me after I either sell Chips back to his breeder or find someone that will do what he wants to do.

It's hard,  but sometimes selling a horse is the best thing for everyone. I went through the same thing with Catt almost two years ago and it isn't fun.  I hope he sells quick and you find the perfect horse for you!

Chips breeder is getting out of horses, so I get to put an ad out for him to find someone that wants to do what he wants to do, which is not be an english horse.

Got my chrismtas wish of finding Chips a good new owner that would match him perfectly. Sold him this past Friday to a wonderful lady who will continue his western pleasure track which makes me so very happy for him. He leaves the barn on Monday to move out to the north shore to living in a pasture which I know he will enjoy so much more than stall living. I'm so happy to have found him this new owner.

I get to spend one last christmas with him though.

A little bit of a Chips update too;

I have kept in contact with his new owner through FB and I can't express how happy I am that we found her for him. She's done an amazing job with him, she's posted videos of her little four year old being able to brush him and he just stands there tied to a post without showing any of those behaviours that I was dealing with and her older daughter and friends did a little hand painting on him too. She posted pictures of the kids being able to crowd around him, pet him, paint him and touch his nose. Things that usually ended up in me being bitten by him, I would have never trusted him with children either.

I now know that my time with Chips was just so that I could learn about what I wanted in a horse and so that he could end up with his current owner because the timing wouldn't have worked out any other way. I'm so happy for her and that he has ended up with an amazing family that really loves him.

Sorry to hear it didnt work out with you and Chips but they sure teach us a thing or two don't they?  Far better to know when it's not going to work and let them go than to keep trying to fit a round peg in a square hole as so many people continue with a horse that isn't right for them.  (Me to a degree however my little pony has a main job as a companion and then ridden or not after that).

Thank you and yes, I was a little stuck on him because of his conformation for what I wanted to do and the fact that I was shareboarding a quarter horse, so I thought I should own a quarter horse. But grateful to the time I spent with him, without him I doubt I would've gotten my current boy.
