I have an issue that i'm not so sure about. I recently got a warning for advertising USD commissions on my page. After the warning, I removed the material, or so I thought. That was ONE warning. Well today I log in to see this message: http://i.imgur.com/lYNCsCw.png . I only ever received one warning, in the first place.
The offending form that is pictured is something I used for all sites, here dA and facebook were i to get any orders. It's not me advertising, hey I do USD, buy stuff! That wasn't my intention. And when I was warned the first time, it was talking about the text I had in my layout, nothing was said about my form so I thought nothing of it. So really, it wasn't intentionally breaking rules nor advertising USD orders in any way. Also, the offending comment, "Your order, unless USD, does not take priority, nor does this game" is NOT advertising USD commissions. It's making a statement that in game currency is not worth much in USD, nor does HPD pay my bills, so therefore, USD has priority over HPD. (dA commissions over HP orders).
So please tell me. So I can understand this further. A lot of people have a form that say "how are you paying?" and have USD listed as an option. HP users should know that if they're on hp, they're paying in HPD.
In no way am I starting a debate. |

I'm sorry that this has resulted in confusion; however, linking to an order form that has USD as an option implies that paying for a commission in USD is an option. We don't allow USD services on HP, there's too big of a liability for us and for players, so we are pretty strict about it. |

It still doesn't answer my other questions. I was warned ONE OTHER TIME, and yet your warning implies "several". Other players have this same form, laid out differently, but offering USD as an option to pay which is the ONLY reason I create a google forms because I thought it to be handy to have. Yet, I'm getting reprimanded. No, chastised, which I don't appreciate at all. And my comment about putting USD commissions first. How is that wrong? And why would my ENTIRE PAGE be wiped clean over that when I'm warning EVERYONE that should I have a USD commission (from dA or facebook) it will come first and to be prepared to wait a while for their order, regardless of when they ordered. I get that USD commissions are against the rules and are very very bad and such. I understand that completely, but the situation was handled poorly. I'm very offended by it. |

My 2 cents on the matter *yes it's copy/paste from the original place I posted it*:
I see both sides of this. I see Sam's point that it is against the rules to advertise USD sales, but as you stated you never once advertised them, then I see no issue to be quite honest. You are also correct in that other players use a form like yours to get orders for images. I have filled a similar one out for a layout, though I cannot recall if the mention of USD was on there anywhere, but it was one for commissions for work on HP as well as off of HP. That being said, I do agree that to just straight up delete your page is absolutely unnecessary as the layout was not the offending material, the form was. You should have simply been asked to remove that link. When I filled out the form from another player to commission my HP layout that I'm waiting for (since she has others ahead of me), I remember she sent me the link to it in a private message, so I'm not 100% sure it was ever on her page. Honestly, if the form is the problem, that should have been the message to you: "Please remove the form from your page and if you would like people to use it, send the link through a message." Completely wiping your page when no mention of the form was ever made and the one thing you were told to comply with you complied with was a bit much in my book. This could be a reason I'm not a mod anymore though...I see the issue this way. If my modly powers were still in effect, I would not have wiped the page. I would have sent you exactly what I said earlier about removing the form and sending the link.
Now...I may get in trouble for my thoughts on this, but as we are all adults here, I firmly believe we can have a civilized discussion about all of this... |

As I said in my message to you, the mod who did it was following standard procedure for a second warning for the same thing. The rule isn't just advertising for USD, it's also selling anything for USD, so when you have a form on your page that leaves USD as an option, then that is considered offering a service for USD. For reference, here is the actual rule: "Nothing is to be sold or traded on HP for real money (except, of course, for upgrades that players auction through the Upgrade Auctions), nor are advertisements for off-site transactions involving real money allowed on HP. This includes, but is not limited to, game accounts, game currency (HPD), accounts for other games, eBay auctions, etc. This is to protect players from potential scams, and avoid legal issues concerning the privacy of players under 18."
We save ALL layout coding when we do page resets so it can be restored if need-be. I apologize if you're not happy with the way this was handled, and I can definitely see where a verbal warning would have been a better option for you. Unfortunately, we can't really have any "gray areas" or different ways of handling things between different players so the mods have a guideline that is basically "first offense is _________" "second offense is ____________" which sometimes means a page reset in the name of a black and white rule handling system. I do, however, stand by the rule in general, since having the USD option on that order form that people have to fill out to order from you IS against the rules. If you know of other players with a USD option on HP, you can report those pages to the mod panel via the report link on their page! |
