Broke My Laptop

So, I totally broke my laptop.

The trackpad started acting crazy and wandering, so I'm just taking a crazy stab here and going with something probably happened when I left it in a car during a heat advisory for 11 hours. Also, because there's a dent in the bottom case (I'm REALLY hard on my laptop) the bottom doesn't fit in right and so almost all of the screws have fallen out over time, so I thought that could also be attributing, since it seemed like if I banged on it a little around the trackpad that it then worked for a bit.

So, I took it into Apple and they told me to leave it and they would replace the trackpad and I could pick it up tomorrow. So I did. But then I got a call saying they found evidence of liquid inside and needed to send it in which would take 5 days (wasn't prepared for that), and that it would cost - wait for it - $1240.

In other words, I'm buying a new laptop. I have other issues with it and I'm not about to pay more than half of the price of a new top-of-the-line laptop to fix one of the issues.

In the meantime, I am using a mouse and hoping it doesn't totally die on me. Going to back things up tonight and make a trip to the Mac Store.

My last Mac totally crapped out on me. Had issues getting my power cord to connect (magnet was screwy or something) so it wouldn't charge. Then it went into sleep mode and wouldn't come back out of it. Ended up having to buy an all new computer because Apple said they couldn't fix it in the time frame I needed it fixed (I had all of my job searches collected on that one to apply for unemployment and I had a small window in which to apply to collect for that specific week, so waiting however many days to MAYBE get the computer fixed wasn't an option).

I've had nothing but horrible Apple support, I know mine is cell phone related.. But exactly why I switched to a Note and didn't buy a new iPhone -sigh- Hope you get things fingured out within a reasonable price.

$1200?? *cringe* Definitely better to buy a new one. Buying new technology is so exciting, minus the money aspect. xD

My mac laptop is two years old and still going strong. *fingers crossed*

my hp (dont know what kind?) laptop (it still runs vista) is still kicking. its a 06/07 modelΒ
granted battery is fried (easily fixed) but i just use it plugged into the tv so i dont care really.
it has also been stolen in 08 and actually was a part of a drug bust thanks to lo-jack (lots of hi-fives from the pd here)

i would like a new one but dont see much point with this one working.
i would maybe like a desktop so the kid can play educational games (thanks to my teacher moms login codes haha)

I think Joel and I are going after dinner to get a new one. This laptop does run slow, but it's because I bog it down so much, otherwise it's fine (minus the trackpad thing). I can use a mouse with it, but I HAVE to use it on the left side since I don't currently have a wireless mouse and then it's not much of a laptop anyway, haha. I know that I broke it myself, so I'm not too sour at Apple themselves. But yeah, I was hoping this one would last a lot longer, haha. I'll be MUCH more careful with the new one.

That sucks.

I'm generally not too rough on my electronics, but I did happen to drop this laptop (a lenovo) down the stairs to the basement....and it still works like a charm. Good luck on finding a new laptop and have fun with it too! 8D

I am Chaotic. Destroyer of Laptops.

I've never been terribly fond of Apple products, only because you can't even crack them open yourself and fix it. You HAVE TO go through Apple and. Well. I don't exactly trust that very much. So I stick to windows and android.Β

Β

I've had amazing luck with Asus so far. The only one I managed to kill died thanks to a power surge, which can't exactly be helped. Normally I step on them and kill them that way. But I've been better about that! The only thing in this house that ISN'T asus are our phones and the desktop. And to be honest, I want the asus phone, too.

I got a new laptop last night :). It's still a Macbook Pro, and it's so shiny! I'm happy with it for sure :). I'm a Mac person, I also have an iPhone. They're more durable and more stable, plus I cannot stand to use Windows. Which if I'm on something for so many hours a day (which I am for HP) I just have to have something that I actually like using, haha.

With the insane heat and humidity that day I'm glad we didn't leave our phones in Jimmy's car. I'm sure they would have melted.

Feel free to buy me a new laptop. I'm not picky on brand. I'll buy you wine and we can play CAH. ;P

I've tried dell and killed it within like.. 3 months.

I've had an HP laptop for like.. 4 years. It's currently my back up computer cause it's slow haha.

Β

Right now, I have a Toshiba. had it for about a year and a half and I can't say I don't like it. It's actually a pretty good computer. Had a bit of an issue with the video drive, but I downloaded the update for it from toshiba website and it's worked ever since. Also love windows 10.

I don't really care for apple products, they're to expensive and break easily. I'm not going to pay $500 for a cell phone that will crack badly of you drop it . I've had bad experiences with Apple products. The only decent apple product I have is an iPod 5. I think I'll stick with a hp Windows 10 laptop and a Samsung phone . That's my opinion .
