I do not know if there is already a forum post for this or if it has been discussed before in the past on here {seems familiar but maybe was another SIMS}, but I am wondering what is the general/exact range of points your horses get with privates and publics? I am aware that these shows give your horses more points than publics, which is why they're so frequently used.

Currently my AQH's are 14 year old ranging from 786k - 854k and I have purchased 30 private shows {with more pending} thus far; I am trying to calculate what points this amount of shows would give them so I know how many more to buy. 

My overall goal is 1.2 - 1.4 mil so I'm pretty much "going all in" as they say to get them there...

About public show points, the General Help page says, "First place in a public show is awarded 2,000 points. An upgraded player with their breed specialty gets 3,000 points for first place. Points awarded progress down from there, with 50 places being awarded points. "

And here's about club shows, "Club shows award double the points that regular public shows do. "

However, there's nothing about private shows awarding more points than public shows (actually it doesn't say how many points private shows award at all). I just thought that since people don't usually allow more than 10-12 animals in each private show, there is a greater chance your animal will get more points by getting a higher placing.

I think with the 30 private shows, you should be able to reach your point goals. I haven't done the math or anything but I feel like those would be enough.

they both award the same points. the reason privates give more than publics is because there is usually only a few horses in each show, therefore your horse will alwasy be in the top x amount. Rather than with publics where hundreds of horses can be entered.

What Tera said, the points awarded for placing are the same. It's just that you have 10 animals vs 100-200 animals entered in a public show.

What everyone above me said you can hit that goal on public shows alone!
