The flu isn't good, but good on you for trying to stay healthy! The #1 thing I need to do is stop drinking pop. :(

Well, I am working on my health too, have lost 26 pounds since last novemeber although that is just a portion of what I need to lose. But when I started, I could barely walk around my block, my feet hurt and everything sagged and I was out of breath. But little by little, I would walk a bit further each time, like, the next house's driveway, then turn back. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger, right? As I went from 3 times a week to 5 or 6, I noticed I was walking faster, not just further. Now we go on nature trails on weekends for up to an hour and I just love it. Especially the the trail where riders come by on their horses, I feel such a peace and joy out there in nature, and can hardly believe that as a very large senior who was trapped in a sedintary life, now I get to do that again. I am making healthier food choices to correspond and although my weight loss is slow, I am feeling better than I have in many years, more energy and wellness, and especially, hope. So I say to any of you who are just starting or thinking of starting: go ahead and take the small steps, hang in there and stay with it despite the setbacks, we ALL have those. Forgive yourself and get back to it, remember that any progress over time is better than none, and YOU can succeed as well!

Love seeing people who are motivated to better themselves and who go about it the right way!! I didn't do it the right way several years ago (I was anorexic for 6 years) but thanks to a good support system, I am 4 years in recovery and back to a healthy weight and am trying to be more active to help myself feel better :)

Wow that is awesome Veritas. Way to go! Although anorexia is the opposite problem that I have, I understand it is equally as disabling and VERY tough to beat. Either way requires support and true will to be healthy. Also meant to, in my first post, give a shout-out to Klypso who started the health kick thread...I am proud of you too and hope you are still with your chosen program. I have not had my walk for the past two days due to Good Friday busy-ness, but I will have to get right back to it today. It is a beautiful sunny day out here so there is no excuse! The longer I go without, the easier it would be to stray off track, and there is no way I want that to happen.

Thanks! It has been a hard road but I am happy to say that I am well and healthy and hope to never return to that again. It's a daily struggle. Every day I have self doubt. Every day I want to go back to that. But then my husband tells me every day how beautiful I am and how healthy I am and that helps me to stay the course :)

Cutting soda out of your diet is a HUGE first step. I lost 5# just by doing that, not exercising much during either. I do an overall workout with weights and all that and its really helping me get into shape. I'm not overweight but I'm not in shape either. The workout take me 30 mins if I push fast or 45 if I slow down.

Wow, all you guys sound like you have got it going! I love to see people enjoying becoming more healthy and taking care of themselves.Personally I have quite a bit of catching up to do on my own health, lol. I have been exercising at least 10mins a day every day, although I try to get 30 in, makes me feel more energetic. I need all the energy I can get too, I have a 10 month old boy. I have never been a big fan of soda, instead I am a sweet foods person. I love to bake up all kinds of desserts and hit those Reese's candy bars. Trying to limit myself to only 1 (regular size package) candy bar a day or only 1 (not gianormous) brownie, or piece of pie, or whatever I whip up in the kitchen dessert wise.

"There is a wide, yawning black infinity. In every direction, the extension is endless; the sensation of depth is overwhelming. And the darkness is immortal. Where light exists, it is pure, blazing, fierce; but light exists almost nowhere, and the blackness itself is also pure and blazing and fierce."

To the posts above since my last post, I say you are all on the right track. Getting more exercise, cutting back sweets, and please realise that just caring enough to do any improvement is a huge step. Veritas, thank you for mentioning the emotional side to self-health. And to Icy I say, hopefully you are finding how to bake lowfat, low sugar and healthier recipes that still taste great, you can mail me directly for my top two never-fail recipes I love.

I just started! I went out and got a bunch of healthy foods and am searching for healthy recipes. I got two apps for my phone a running/walker app and a calorie counter app. I just started and am craving chips so bad. I have been drinking lots of water! I am doing a before shower exercise its 50 jumping jacks, 20 crunches, 20 mountain climbers, 30 second planks and 5 pushups. Its hard work and im so sore but its gonna be worth it!

Haha Envious! Me too! ^_^ I mean I've been trying to eat right but can't do that when you eat constantly and you want something quick.I haven't started exercising yet due to having NO energy and being sick. Almost over being sick (sinuses/sorethroat/runnynose) Taking Iron pills helps me get my energy back so I'm hoping the one I just took will kick in today so I can get the house in better order that it is.I hate to post my weight because I'm probably the heaviest person on HP :(I don't want to hit the big 300 and yet I'm so close to that fine line that I'm almost in tears when I weigh. A lot of you know me and digital drawing is a passion of mine. Yet it keeps me in front of the computer for way too long. Lately I have been giving myself a time limit on how long I can be on the computer. It's helped greatly but when I'm not on here, I'm asleep. *cringes*Nope, I'm jobless right now and should be taking advantage of that fact.
