Much of HP knows the tale of Stubb passingon , my subsequent inability to find a horse to bond with, and the painful chapter of Kahlua vs. my leg, in which my leg lost severely and was almost lost to me entirely.

BUT!

This story has a happy ending.

And her name is Fancy.

Fancy is an unregistered (please note that I have all of the paperwork in order to register her, right now, however, I am unsure of a name to use and have yet to send it in due to this, but everything is in order so within a year she will be registered!) quarter horse mare.
Her bloodlines are pretty beautiful, with a mix of running Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, and many top sires in the barrel racing world in her lineage.  She also has a mother with firm foundation lines, which adds to her racing lines by making her solidly built.
Fancy is 6 years old, a dapple grey, and between 15.3hh and 16.0hh, and built thick.

She moves like a dream; with a trot that rolls under you.  She is trained under saddle but is still green, and has been exposed to gymkhana events, and cows.  She is started under harness.  And in the month that I have owned her, she has been thoroughly sacked out, used round pen and liberty work.

The best part?  She comes running when I call, and responds primarily to me.  :)

She really is built like a dream. And harness is an interesting thing for a Quarter Horse. I bet she looks lovely driving. How's riding her with your leg?

Dash for Cash, Nasrullah, Man o War,  Three Bars, King, Jack McCue, Leo, Joe Hancock..... Her lines are quite good.

We actually harness train all of our working horses - it teaches them to respond better to commands, and that there is a time to walk, a time to trot, etc.  Which, since our horses are 'hot' lined, is important. 
So far she's only been hand driven, no wagon yet.  But the goal is to get her and Smokey trained and teamed up.
Since y'know, greys.

I haven't been able to ride her - because of her sires lineage, she does have the potential for fire, so I've been riding Smokey while dad rides her until I'm stronger.
But I do all the ground work and harness work.
But my leg is not handling riding well.  
Every time it is like being stabbed with rusty knives, to be honest. 
When I got off the first time, I collapsed.
The second time, too.
But the third time was just jelly leg, not full on collapse!

You know I never thought of that. But it makes sense. If you ever get her in a team I'd love to see it!

That sucks about your leg though. I'm sure with practice it'll come back though. It sounds like it's just rebuilding the strength...

the ranch i rode for in hawaii had a stud out of beduino.. he produced some beautiful foals man! great horses too!!

Update for everyone:

So a few of you know my idiot mare hit her head in the trailer!  I would love to report that it is healing well; no infection, no swelling, and the hair is growing in nice.  One of her stitches is gone already, and the scar will be minimal!

Sadly, unable to ride until it heals fully, as part of it would rub on the bridle :(

It will tie into her bloodlines; Timeline = Time, Wounds = Man O War.
But it's also in reference to my late Stubby boy as well.
