horse color, aging, and starvation

I think the game would be a lot more realistic if we weren't able to change their coat color whenever we wanted to. Does this happen in real life (rhetorical)? Store horses should have the option to select a color along with the breed. And when they breed, colors should be determined by the computer based on the parents' genetics / colors (then again, you might be saving this for HP:E). Also, I think it's silly how horses are able to live past a horse's average life-span in real life, and by hundreds of years! It would be awesome if only the Unicorns, Pegasus and Unipegs were able to be immortal like that (being magical breeds and all)... AND, how is it that a horse can live after months of no feeding (rhetorical)? It would, again, be more realistic if some kind of program was invented to take horses if they've been (say, 2 weeks) starving and feed them, or something. But when I logged back onto my game after months of having no internet access my old horse was -70 days fed, which would technically mean she'd be gone in real life lol! Just some ideas that would make the game more realistic! ;) Thanks HP!

Oooh. XDFor your first suggestion, as far as I know, some sort of colors/genetics are going to be included in HP:E. :)For the life-span thing... that's true. You can always retire your horse. For this and the feeding issue - they used to be deleted if they weren't fed for a long time (happened to some of my horses' ancestors) but this meant that some players suffered because others broke their lines simply because those horses weren't in their possession. There's now the mass-feed feature that you can buy from the store that can help with the feeding, though :PHP is modeled after another game that many players here used to play but has since gone through dramatic changes (so that most of us no longer wish to play that game). Yes I prefer HP any day. The other game disappointed me, very much so, and I quit altogether. I cannot wait until HP:E is up and running. I have been waiting for around a year now!! I feel like all the time they've spent making HP better should have been spent hurrying along HP:E but I just can't wait for it haha!Mass Feeding: good idea HP had, but horses still can't live when they've NOT eaten for months LOLI also think having horses "Expire" automatically at a certain age would really help with overpopulation. Ya I know we'd miss them but that's how it happens in RL heh. But like I said, I think it'd be cool if the magical breeds didn't "expire" (unless deleted/retired)! It would make them even more awesome! But I have a crazy imagination!

I'm really not sure what you mean by 'expire', but I wouldn't want my dogs to go anywhere after any amount of time... They sit in my retirement and look pretty, because they are the work i've put into my lines since I started them, I like looking back on them and showing them off.As Lluvia said, HP was meant to mirror what HL was before the changes messed everything up for everyone. All these ideas are wonderful suggestions for HP.E and I hope they're taken into consideration for that, but HP needs to stay the way it is, the way it was always meant to be. Some things may seem silly and unrealistic but in the end, HP was made to be about as realistic as HL was (which wasn't realistic at all lol) because after we all quit, that's what we were looking for.

This is slightly off topic, but my year+ hiatus has left me a little clueless... How is HP:E coming along? I recall there being talk about it before I left...

I love the colouring genetic idea.. and maybe it can be optional so the old fashioned hl/hp type players can choose to not have it when they select it from the store, and those who DO want to have it can (just don't make it some ridiculous 10mill price) It doesn't have to come with a silly matching avatar or whatever you call them, just a simple word in their info like "dapple grey" and then the graphic designer for that horse has the challenge to make it an actual dapple grey or roan arabian stock for example... Also, as a real life appaloosa owner, it would be fun to see like "Black with Blanket" or "Palomino with snowflakes" You can even get into real rarities like "Cremello" in the thoroughbred genes.. and what real TB collector/breeder DOESN'T want that rare Cremello thoroughbred with those genes to put 10mill++ points on! I know I would pay to have my mares have a date with that stunning pixel in hopes of something special :)

Yes Bellicus, even HL has horses that come with unchangeable colors, which was ONE thing I liked about HL. As for the rare colors on certain breeds, they should cost more, like a lot more, when purchasing from the store. Otherwise it would be too easy to make "rare" colored horses, thus making them not-so-rare. AND it would make the game more FUN/challenging as you would also be aiming for certain colors when breeding!Z, I wish I knew. I keep checking back to see if it's ready but NOTHING x"(Shaenne, "expire" is my nicer word for die hehe. You're right about wanting to look back on your hard work! There could be something like a section in your homepage of all your "passed-on" horses/dogs (not able to edit/feed), so you could still look at them, but they would pass away at a realistic age regardless. And the retire button should be a delete button (that actually deletes them instantly) :) IDK, just an idea

I'd be careful with the delete instantly button should you having a falling out with a partner player they can't get mad and just delete your horse, or some "trainer" that gets on your account and wants to be a troll and delete it... I thought maybe if you can't choose the colour at all from the store OR pay for rarities... You are just surprised to get it like when you get twins born :) then players can specialize like I own a black and white appy, I'd love to have a barn specialized in producing black and white babys... This would only be fun if the game has different coat patterns within the coloured breeds :)

A suggestion is to be able to see your event history to go back a longer period of time. Also, if you could see in the events section; money gained or lost through completion of an auction that would be awesome.

HP2 is meant to be the more complex counter-part to HP. A lot of these things you've mentioned will be there once it opens. It is currently back in development now, but I don't have a set release date for it yet.HP is about as complicated and true-to-life as it's ever going to get. It's a simple game and if we changed that we would lose a huge portion of our player base who likes the original idea.

I like how simple the game is now...if it gets too involved in genetics and real ages it'll take away from the simplicity, which is why a lot of people like this. But, yeah like the other players were saying, I think the HP E is going to be like that. Personally, I think the way horses work on this HP should stay the same =p

TRUE guys, I figured HP Evolutions would have all that. Just can't wait! Maybe a good idea to keep this one simple
