so i came across some images of groceries in hawaii.. planning a trip? you may need to expand your budget LOL

Its true, the prices are just as bad in the USVI where I was born. Mostly its due to the cost of shipping things overseas. |

Oh man! What a flash back of crazy! My Dad used to live on Kauai and I would visit once a year and be a "local". I went grocery shopping with him one day and about fell over dead when I saw the cost of Tillamook Cheese! The Tillamook Cheese Factory is just a state away from us so it's only about $5-$6 for an 8oz pacakge. They wanted nearly $20 in Hawaii! I really loved visiting there, but I couldn't imagine living there year 'round unless I had some large amounts of monies!  |

Yeah with shipping and all of that, anything they can't provide for themselves on the islands has to be brought in so it's going to be waaaaay more expensive than it would be here on the mainland. But I have been to Maui and it was amazingly fun. I was 7, so I was unaware of the cost of anything, but it was still a trip I would definitely do again.  |
