I'm not sure how this would work with the programming of the game... but I thought it could make the game more realistic *sim* game if mares had gestation periods... like you breed a mare and her foal doesn't come right away you have to wait 2 weeks for it to be born.. and perhaps she needs more vet check-ups and maybe the breedings don't always work right away.. And during foaling there could be complications and the vet could charge you more...

I know, I know... we all came to HP for a much better remake of HL, and this might be a little TOO far-fetched.. I just think it would be interesting :D

Also, you could have on the stallion side, that if you want him to be *top-quality* he'd need to get certain check-ups... I dunno. Only throwing it out there!I love HP just as it is right now.. maybe because I grew up always excited for my aunts appaloosas to foal haha

I like the idea, could get fertility checks... I have always liked the idea (VERY far fetched) of having stallion breeding more like RL where a good quality stallion would have 100s of foals and public breed to them

I don't really think this goes with the idea of HP so much (simplicity), but it's definitely something that could be worked into HP2.

We have to wait a few weeks after breeding anyways I wouldn't really want to wait an additional few set of weeks

Mem, but what if the waiting was for a foal instead of being able to breed again. So basically the wait is the same but for a diff reason...?

Doesn't that get away from the realistic-ness then, Free? I don't know much about horses, but I seriously doubt that as mare is bred immediately after one foal is popped out. :PPersonally, I hate games that make you wait for the foal. I hate just waiting for a foal (or puppy, whatever) to age so I can train it, waiting for it to be born, too, just sucks.

I realized this idea was way out there and people wouldn't like the idea of it because it takes away from the concept of this game... but I think in these sort of games we often have *too much* control which makes it very systematic, point and shoot kind of thing when owning horses in real life isn't like this at all.. big breeding facilities often breed the mare back her first heat after a foal, which is generally a couple weeks after.. but what if you bred her, waited for the foal (you have to wait until shes about 16,18,20 anyways don't you? so why not breed at 16 and get your foal at 18, breed her a day or so after for her foal at 20?)Something that isn't SO drastic, would be to get certain registration or breeding rights to your top quality stallions.. maybe have him rated 1-5 stars? It would be cool if we knew a stallions possibility to throw a certain gender.. maybe that could be a test you buy from the store, so you get him tested at a young age and it says "This stallion has a 90% chance of producing fillys" and then you know to breed him to a mare also with a filly success rate... THIS WAY you may have a better idea who to mate your horses with and if he is the horse you want to dump 3bill on to train, because you want another colt born just like him, and not so much a filly for whatever reason in your breeding program :) The tests could be expensive and another way to pull money out of the economy :3 Like I said before, I love HP just as it is now, and wouldn't want any huge changes myself... I just like to throw ideas out there for people to chew on :3

I like your idea Bellicus. It is more realistic. And hey you can breed your horses at any age starting at 3. But it would be better if you had to wait till they were 5 before the game even let you breed them. At least with mares.

HL does that...they make you wait a day or something for the foal...i dont want to wait an additional time for a foal...and if i wanted this to be like RL then i would just breed my mares and wait for their foals....then i would quit and who would you guys get upgrades from?! Lol just kidding!!!

I already have had real foals but is waiting a couple days that hard:)? I actually think it would be cool if the game had genetics. Like you can choose your store horse colors but after that its based on the parents for foals. Same with the height of a horse.

Midnight, that's in the plans for HP2. But for HP1 we've ruled that it's too complex for the simple structure of the game :).

HP is a training based game focused on achieving the highest points possible in the animals life span. Not to breed to get certain traits. :P

Lol actually Adranth some of our mares are served days after they have "popped" out a foal depending on their foaling heat and the time of year they foal

Well I make my horses genetic based as much as possible. Good genetics and good training make a good horse:) Besides my goal is to have a realistic horse breeding farm. I have real horses but on the computer I can do what I want and it doesn't add to the rl horse population. When will HP2 be up and running?
