Most of you have met him already but those who haven't, meet Max!







Max is a 6.5 week old Solomon Island Eclectus. He is awesome! He is my first large parrot and I am still getting used to how big he is already and he's only a baby. At 6.5 weeks he is 420 grams, and the average weight for an adult male SI Eclectus is 375-400 grams. He is a beef cake!

I love him! And I am so happy that you guys will get to watch him grow up!

He's doing my head in at the moment because he won't freaing eat. He isn't sick, and I suspect he may be approaching fledging although it is quite early for an eclectus. I'm hoping it's because he doesn't like his formula. I had him on vetafarm neocare but the last time I needed it, they were out of stock so I had to get regular vetafarm. It smells awful (worse than I remember it when Zoe was on it) and if it tastes anything like it smells I wouldn't want to eat it either. So tomorrow i'm going to pick up some neocare as the new stock should be in by now.

Fingers crossed that's all it is, and he goes back to eating normally tomorrow.

He's already so pretty! I can't wait to see all his colors poof!!

And of course the store didn't have the new stock. FML.

That's one big birdie. He looks like he could beat up a chicken.

I finally got him to eat! I added pureed apple to his formula. He was still a little fussy but it didn't take anywhere near as long as it usually does and he ate a full meal. SO HAPPY. I'm gonna try adding mashed up banana to his lunch.

Max is SO handsome. I wish you lived next door so I could come over and get used to your birds! LOL! We have an awesome small pet store in town and I went there with my friend the other day because she wanted some more fish and I was so drawn to the birds. They were HUGE and very chatty and I'm not used to them so I couldn't tell if they were friendly or not, but I think they knew I was nervous and didn't let me get too close. They were gorgeous though :3

Ahhh he's GORGEOUS! Glad he's eating! Hope his appetite continues to improve!

I bought maxbutt a harness today!



He is super chill about *everything* and I was able to get the thing all the way on and done up in one go today and he didn't even care. He was more focused on the grapes I gave him lol. This means in a few weeks when he's older and more stable on his feet, I can start taking him places! Like the feed store. I saw a lady walking around the feed store with a cockatoo on her shoulder (in a harness of course) a while ago and I was so jealous lol.
