Has anyone earned their degree online? Was toying with trying to go to campus this coming fall but I'm not completely sure that it is a realistic idea for me, my hours at work vary from morning hours to all day hours to night ours (yay for the service industry...) and my anxiety can get so out of control I wouldn't want to be late or miss days often and fall behind... I finished high school years ago by a corespondance school The American School and loved it, finishing classes much quicker than I had. Basically I'm not happy with where I've found myself work wise, and I'm 24 and need to buckle down and better myself. I just feel doing it online would be best for my situation but I'm open to opinions. I have some debt so moving may not be a good option unless I found a job to help with my bills and a place to live prior to moving. I'm planning to go for Business Management, maybe programming. /rambling

I have a friend that used the University of Phoenix online and didn't have any problems and she liked it.

Other than that I'm not much help, sorry! D:
Good luck though!

I've of my co-workers is graduating next month from taking online classes to become a certified vet tech through San Juan. It was definitely the best option for her. Depending on what you go to school for you may be required to do some on-site stuff. I'm looking at classes in the fall for the same reason you are. I need to do something with education.

I thought about taking online but I'm only 20 minutes from the local tech college and that seemed like a better fit because I NEED to be in a class and have the chance to talk to professors face to face. I'm going for an accounting degree and I really wanted to have a classroom setting for me to try and do this in. Complete personal choice. I also have heard some people say that online is more expensive so if money is a concern check out prices for sure. But if it's going to be easier on your schedule it might be worth it to pay for the convience.

Thanks all! I've looked at Univeristy of Pheonix before and it looks pretty easy to follow, but there is a community college across the river in the next state (Like 20 minutes from me basically) so I thought about starting online there, because if it didn't work out I could go talk to the teachers or maybe transfer to the campus, but they don't have as many choices to offer as online only based colleges/unis... I wish I could do something horse based. I love horses but have almost zero experience with them. That I know of the closest lesson stable is hours from here. But I could do a lot with a Business Degree... too many choices.

Sangre I was originally going to go and get a general business management type degree, there's a LOT it will set you up for! I ended up deciding on accounting after doing bookkeeping for several companies and owner of the previous business I was a secretary for was married to a personal accountant so I got to deal with her a lot and the more I learned the more I liked it.

I actually wanted to do horses as well but it's not for everyone and tbh I'm happier playing with ponies instead of running a farm like I was. It's not all it's cracked up to be and it breaks down your body but doesn't pay much so you're not able to take care of yourself as you're wearing yourself down. I worked 50 hours a week on my SHORT weeks and was there 7 days a week riding on my 1/2 days off and it just burns you out after a while (though I do believe if I'd had a more appreciative boss I would have been much happier in it).

I think you're smarter to get a business degree and maybe you can find a job and move closer to a barn and pick-up lessons and eventually do something with horses that way? A lot of places will let you take free lessons or work of a lease/board by cleaning stalls & helping out with barn chores! That's what my barn managing job started out as when I first got Bella!

I did a lot of my RN nursing school online and will be doing my BSN now all online as well. As long as you have the drive and the self control to use your time wisely and do it, I think it's a great opportunity to do it that way. :) I've never had any problem as I was homeschooled and so I was already used to constructively putting aside time to work on schoolwork. Since you had a similar experience finishing high school online, I think you probably already know if it worked well for you or not! Good luck!!! :)
