Hi everyone,
Im just curious to know how you might work out the prices for horses and dogs you may want to sell. How would I price a store horse/dog in comparison to a lined horse/dog?
TIA !! "He was like a candle in the wind...... u n r e l i a b l e." |

If you're thinking of selling backup foals/pups I usually ask around 5mil to 8mil for my backups, I haven't sold any with lines from other players so I have no pricing thoughts on those.
As for older horses, I don't sell I usually just buy so I never really have to price out those guys I just pay whatever the other player wants... I usually only buy when I really want the horse so I'm usually willing to shell out whatever they ask because I hoard animals. |

It depends on what breed you are selling, horse/dog, lined or store, points, age, and mainly the market. the buying/selling on HP has never really gotten big unfortunately :/ ★ Like a drum, baby, don't stop beating★ |

As a rule of thumb I've just always sold my store lined back ups for 5 mill, and anything 2nd gen and more 7-10 mill. However that's just basic enter all. For privately trained animals reaching 2 mill plus points by retirement will go for more. The actual sales amounts do depend heavily on the breed. If it's not a popular breed or you are the only breeder it's going to be tougher to find buyers or generate enough interest to warrant people out bidding eachother. It's all really luck of the draw, and who is buying what/when at that time. |

I breed mostly popular things, or at least things with active breeders who will look to add into their own lines so selling usually isn't a problem for me when I decide to rid myself of backups (especially on my paint). I got an insane (for me anyways) amount on my Second Gen Start Vault foal that I sold but her parents both hit at least 5mil by retirement and Paints are fairly popular. :/
From your page, I know for sure your TB foals should be relatively easy to sell, there's lots of TB breeders out there... I can't say so surely on your other breeds!

I'm a serial line hopper. Buying and selling breed lots as they come and go. I tend to pay around 5 mill for well started store horses or lined foals and 10 mill for nearly finished store horses or older lined ones. Link Tree |
