Black Market!

Okay, so I asked around in chat and posted on Facebook about this, but I wanted to have a real discussion here about it too! The Idea The staff was discussing adding a "black market" for upgraded players. It would basically be a second store that sold things like gender changes, de-ages, etc. The Reason Sola's sales have been really popular and pulled a ton of money out of the economy, we all know that HP's economy has EXPLODED and it has left as very big gap between the "rich" and the "poor". And we really need a way to control it. So this would offer that automatically, all the time. We feel that this would be a better and more popular option than imposing taxes on money transfers, auctions, etc. Bringing down the economy would make it easier for new players to start out on the game and stick around, as well as bring down prices for upgrades, graphics, tickets, and shows to make them easier to obtain. The Concerns HP has always been and is always meant to be a simple game. Personally I am slightly worried that this will take away from it. That being said, stuff like this is pretty common on games nowadays and if it's alright with the general population of HP, it might help us bring in new members and compete with the other games. And it wouldn't over complicate things TOO much. It's also a concern that it will make things too easily obtainable and take away from the "game" part of the game. Which is something we want to try to avoid since we want people to feel some challenge with the game play. Notes 1. This would all have limits on them. For example, you still would only be able to do one de-age once in an animal's life and for bigger things (maybe like retirement breedings) we would only sell one per month for the entire game or something. 2. They would be expensive, similar to what they are for Sola's sales. For two reasons: 1 - so that it takes as much money out of the economy as possible, and 2 - so that people won't just buy it all the time and act as if it's an every day part of the game. 3. We really do want your honest feedback about this, this is an important decision, we feel. 4. We are open to suggestions on WHAT would be in the store, so feel free to give us suggestions! 5. We also proposed a possible way to trade player points for a discount for these items. So instead of something being 100 mill it would be 500k PP + 50 mill or something. Soo your thoughts? I'll also reply as I think of more things, but I wanted to get a discussion going! :). |

It's be the opposite, Mobius -- there won't be as much money in the game, so people can't charge more then they do now. We have to get money out of the game to make things cost less. -shrug- |

as long as you dont pull a HL and change the currency... then i may have to get violent... But i DO like lluv's ideas. i wish i wasnt so tired cause i KNOW i could find some more things that i'd love to see. Maybe like lluv's idea of a 2x/4x/10x shows thing but just make it so you can add a certain amount to a health bar but never more than double. cause thats not fair. thats pretty much allowing about 300k+ to get points wise using shows. |

I love lluvia's suggestions, I've thought the same thing in a few forums and in chat also so deff support lluvia! The one thing I DO NOT agree with is changing the breed.. I don't think it's fair to have about 10 gens of a breed and then all of a sudden change it, I think you should either continue and remain true to the breed, or quit it, rather then get all screwy with the pedigree. This keeps the integrity of the breed and no money justifies that. It's either bred and loved, or you start again from the store (or pick up some one else's foals) for a new breed.I think the other ideas would pull money from the economy but we have to remember there will be rich players who won't buy them too.. I plan on raising about 30bill for a project in the next coming months and to be 100% honest, I wouldn't buy anything from the store for this other than the 10 shows extra.. but I am quite picky with what I buy on here. I think other players are also like this too.. I am by no means rich on the game, and if I were, still wouldn't need to go crazy with buying things from the store for all these specialties, though I think they are nice that they are offered in the case of "emergency"! This is just my opinion, if it even matters :)  |

I think once accounts are upgraded you shouldn't be able to collect bank. That would take out a lot of money per month. |

I like farewells idea. I don't do graphics, I hardly ever train for others, so the bank and shows are the only income that I have. I have over 200 mill right now , and even with training, feeding, farrier, and vet work for my very large herd of horses, I hardly dip below that. I am defiantly not going to miss not getting 400k per week from the bank. |

Bellicus - I think the idea with changing a breed would be more like if you bought a new store horse and then all of a sudden realized it was the wrong breed or something - within the first week of buying it. Not for the whole line of horses?Wed o realize that this won't be an instant fix for our economy issues, but we have to start somewhere!Farewell - It definitely would! But it would also take away an upgrade perk to remove it and I don't think people would be happy about that as a whole. |

taking the 400k from premiums I think would really help... and I guess maybe these new "store" offers could only be for premiums, so it gives more incentive to upgrade, gives people something to blow money on, and no one would miss the 400k since in exchange they get more store opportunities for upgrading instead.One thing I thought of for people with projects is more extra shows10mill = 10 extra like we already havefor 10 more the same week it could cost 50-100 mill, so you COULD theoretically get 100+ shows a week for a horse IF you are willing to pay the bucks for it :) It would especially be great for people who have projects just before retiring and thought, dang, I wish I just had a few extra shows to buy privates for to get him to his goal... I know you don't want to start messing with points but I think point gaining is a good chance to get people to blow money on. |

Well I had typed up a huge reply and it logged me out grrr. Anyway as I said. The shows and stables and kennels should bring in plenty of money for premium players. It would be nice if players could only sell training tickets if they first buy a training license and then an arena. They also should have to have an arena before making private shows. Also there could be a limit of stalls to a barn before having to buy a new barn. And another thing that may help is some players could become the vets and farriers by buying licenses. This would be a cool way to make the game more real and keep money flowing. It may also reduce the overbreeding of some horses. Its not black market as such but I think it would be more fun. We need to have a way of expanding our farms and to make money off of them more. Perhaps we should have certain untility bills to pay every month. This should also encourage the players to remain active. Of course basic players also need to be able to have ways of making money like with their shows and selling of horses and show training for people etc. If training tickets require more to obtain it just might help the horse training to stay on a more level field. I could be wrong of course. This is just my 2 cents for what its worth. |
