So losing Max left an Eclectus sized hole in my heart and I started looking for breeders. A guy contacted me in April saying he had a hen on eggs, and we texted back and forth from then until now and long story short, I have a new baby coming home in roughly two months!





Obviously I haven't chosen one yet, but i'm going to sydney next week so I might arrange to visit them while i'm there.

She's costing me $750 all up and i've paid $200, i'll be paying the rest off as she grows and weans. I'll be bringing her home when she's on just an evening feed and finishing her weaning off myself! I'm so excited!

I already had a list of girls names so choosing one was fairly easy. It was a toss up between bella and ruby. I decided against ruby because even though I really like it, it's probably the most common name possible for an eclectus hen (because they're red lol), and I didn't want something that everyone else has too. So I went with bella! Pretty name for a pretty girl :D

I will keep you guys updated! Pete sends me pictures every few days but as you can see he's not the greatest photographer LMAO. I can't wait to get her home.. partially so I can take some good photos of her lol!

I love looking at that second photo, because she looks just like Max at that age except she's red instead of green. It makes me a little sad because I miss him, but then super excited because I can't wait for the future with her

Maybe for payment for Bella you get him a decent camera instead of the potato he's been using. :P

Unfortunately even the nicest camera can't help if the user doesn't have any skills, or at the very least a steady hand LOL

I am picking her up in 2 weeks! Either Friday 29th or Saturday 30th. Can't freaking wait!

Scratch that. I'm paying her off on Tuesday and I even have fuel money to pay for the trip there so I can go pick her up whenever pete says she's ready to go lol!

She has had a bath since I took those pictures because she desperately needed one lol.

It hasn't taken her long to settle in. If you didn't know better you'd swear she's lived here her whole life lol. Zoe doesn't like her, but Zoe doesn't like anyone other than me so that's no surprise. She'll get over it lol.

I'm 99% certain Pete tried to force wean her which had resulted in her screaming non-stop all day sunday and monday. I put her back on a morning feed this morning (tuesday) and the infernal screaming has stopped! Thank the lawd.

Zoe is warming up to the idea of bella's presence, so that's a start lol.

14 weeks! I can't wait until her beak goes black.

Gorgegous! I'm glad you finally got her!

She will more than likely molt out the green feathers but I won't complain if she doesn't. I mean the traditional maroon/red is beautiful and I love it, but she's just so unique at the moment LOL
