Okay, so at the end of this month Joel and I are going on our honeymoon and basically our options to get home boil down to stopping in Casper, WY on the last night which we will be in on the way there, or going somewhere new which would be somewhere in ND. We thought about Deadwood, SD but it's the week of the Sturgis rally so it'll be too crowded and expensive.

SO for those of you who have been there, what is there to do for an evening in or around Bismarck?

Ahhhh I love ND! The badlands are gorgeous (so are the wild horses!) Theodore Roosevelt National Park is great, but it's about a 2hr drive from downtown Bismarck (buuuut the rare Nokota horses are there!) Closer to B is the Dakota Zoo (You might be too 'adult' for this, but I'm a kid at heart haha), if you're into golf there's a plethora of courses in and around the area (not my thing, but I can get a couple of names if that's your thing!), if historical stuff is your thing, def. check out Fort Lincoln (it's in Mandan, right next door), if you prefer more hands-on science-y planetarium stuff then check out Gateway to Science (they usually have special events running there depending on when you go - some are for kids but occaisonally there'll be some for all ages) If you check out the Mandan/Bismarck Tribune (website or pick up a paper) they have a whole calender of events going on pretty much always :)

I can write a whole nother paper on where to eat if you want me to! I loved visiting and would love to go back (along with Utah, Montana, Wyoming... I'm indecisive)

I'd LOVE suggestions on places to eat!

Montana and Wyoming are amazing :). That's actually our destination Glacier, a hotsprings resort that we love, and Jackson Hole!

Free pony rides on a certain grulla mare. ;)

Other than that, I've never been to ND so no help from me.

It's some gorgeous country up and over there! My parents, every summer, either packed up our RV or took my dad's plane and we went to every state :) They actually want to retire to southern Utah, haha.

I will get together a list of the best places to eat later tonight; just had a moment to sneak on here at work!

Noh- you've totally sold ND to me. Been dying to go for years cuz of Nokotas and now, even more so!

Diva, you'll love it!!!

For places to eat:

Fireflour Pizza - you can make your own pizza or pick one of their 'signature' ones, they're all wood-fired!

The Woodhouse - pretty much an old-fashioned drive-thru joint!

The Bistro 1100 - they have both classy Italian stuff as well as more low-key grilled stuff (it's also in a remodeled carriage house!)

A&B Pizza - they were voted best pizza in ND! 'nuff said

Oahu Hawaiian/Sushi Bar - sushi and hawaiian spin on some traditional Japanese dishes

There's a couple more grill-type 'American' food places, and an Irish pub downtown as well!

I've been to the southern part of South Dakota, so I'm no help, but I do have a friend that lives somewhere in North Dakota and they have horses and love it up there!
She posts on fb every now and then. xD

I want to visit Montana and Wyoming sooo bad!

Furthest out that way I've ever been was Colorado and New Mexico. But I LOVE it out west. That was probably the most fun I've ever had.

Just noting that we ARE going through ND on the way home! And I'm definitely going to check out all the places listed here :).
