Cat Bald Spot

My cat Beetle has fleas, and has had them since he got neutered at 7 months (he's now 3). I'm convinced he picked them up from the clinic. Turned out he's allergic to their saliva and we've been treating him for fleas since he got them.

Recently, we took Bug to the vet who treated him for what seemed to be cystitis, as he was unable to pee or poop. Whilst we were there, the vet checked Bug's temperature and also examined Bug's penis to check for irritation and blockage. He said it was clear.

Because Bug has fleas, he scratches and nibbles and licks himself a lot. Today, I noticed he's gotten himself a "hot spot" (bald spot) right under his tail above his anus. Now and then I will see him licking there a lot. I have nothing here to relieve him of the itching nor to prevent him licking the spot. It's not red or bleeding or anything - just bald. It defo has developed after his vet trip, as the vet had looked under his tail at his privates and would have seen it, as it's pretty obvious.

Do any of you have experience with this kind of thing?

My cat has severe flea allergies as well....

He licks sores all over his body and is scabby to the touch and also has a hairless butt because he itches so much...i just try to keep flea meds on him every 30 days and sometimes id make him wear one of those dog sweaters to help prevent him from licking so much....

They recommend steroid shots, but in my honest opinion that lasts 1 day and then theyre back to itching...

Try giving him dawn dish soap baths once a week....youll just have to be on top of your flea control(which is hard for me with 7cats in the house)

I don't have experience with cat hot spots/allergies because I just got my first 2 kittens and they are healthy as far as I can tell. I only have had trouble with my dog because Pitbulls and Pit mixes are notorious for being allergic to grains and a lot of other things (which makes them itchy). I have scoured every resource to find a remedy for his itching.

There's a lot of natural/organic/herbal things (ointments, pills,...etc.) that is for dogs (and I assume for cats too but I never paid attention to those) that will relieve (or say they relieve) itching. I've tried several different ones but they don't seem to really help. However, I've tried Benadryl and it helps a little. It's an antihistimine. I don't know if you can give Benadryl to cats or if it will help with flea allergy related itching.

I'm sorry I can't give any super helpful info :(
