I woke up this morning to find my betta fish stuck in the decoration in his tank.  I have no idea how long he was stuck in there for but I tried unsuccessfully to get him out for a couple hours.  My mom was able to get him out when she got home from work and removed the decoration as well.

This is the best picture I could get but he has a big white spot on his back where he was stuck and his back fin is partially torn.  Is there anything I can do for him or should I just let him be?  He's sitting on the gravel under his plants but he started swimming around a little when I came to check on him.

I'd really appreciate any help!  I've never had this happen before so I don't what I should do :3

Aww poor fishie!

I don't know what to say since I've never had a beta, but if he's swimming around and eating, then he's probably going to be okay?

Head on down to the local aquarium shop (don't got to a pet store) explain what's happened. I believe there is something you can add to the water that will help with healing, all that rubbing had reduced the slime coat that's on him and can make him really sick.

I have gold fish and they are in a 3.5foot tank so best to see an expert about dosage and if it's ok for Beta

There are some drops you can put in their water that will help them repair their fins! But yes I'm with Zad aquarium stores are really where to go!

Yes because you dont want them getting ick, I believe thats what it's called. You can also ask them what types of decortations are best for betas. I hope he gets better!

I don't think I'd do much more than keeping the water cleaned and maybe adding some aquarium salt to the water unless there's signs of infections. His fins can repair themselves with time and clean water. When I kept bettas for several years my go tos were clean water, aquarium salt, and medication for Ich. I'm not sure what all medications for fish are still on the market. It's been a while since I was into fishkeeping and they've gotten rid of a few of the ones I kept for major infections.
