Sulley is my 2009 Hanoverian gelding by San Amour (Sandro Hit) out of a Davignon I (Donnerhall) mare.

He's tall, dark, handsome, and quirky! I decided I'd finally put up a post on him so that I can chronicle his progress!

First, to catch you up to speed!

I got Sulley in December 2014. He was my Christmas present, next birthday present, next Christmas present, next birthday present, and will also be my Christmas present this year...


There he was, all wrapped up in his stall by my best friend/Roux's groom when I went to the barn after a final exam to take care of Roux! For those of you who do not know, Roux is my retired FEI horse. I'll create a post on him later. >:]


Fast forward to May 2015.

17 hands what's that?  I've been born and raised in a AQH area and so my old appendix at 16.3 hands is crazy and unheard of! You have such handsome horses.  I am impressed that you legit have to climb up a gentle giant just to ride!

To Tron and Overture on height, it's crazy isn't it?! Roux is 17h and Sulley's... 18 at least. I stopped sticking him at 18h because I refuse to have something larger than that. He was like 17.2 when I got him, I think?

Sulley update while I put together a Rouxletto thread!



Pony has officially completely outgrown his old blankets. RIP. Size 82 anti-sweat sheet for reference.

He is gorgeous!!! The only horses I ride are out at a friends and they have Appys and QH. I'm pretty tall so I ride their tallest horse and 16.1 feels huge to me so I can't image 18!!

I always feel the opposite! My guys are fairly large (Sulley we did not expect to get so big, though...) so I always feel "VROOM VROOM" when I sit on smaller horses! I help train a...15.2 I think?...Arabian and whenever I get off of him I almost fall on my butt because I hop down with the expectation that it's a much longer trip to the earth. LOL.


Fun fact: Sulley's favorite thing to do is be tiny Sulley, so he occasionally gets lazy when he's being hand grazed and plops down to eat.
It's hard to be a brown horse.
