I'm looking for a refurbished laptop, but I'm unsure what brand to look at. It would solely be used for graphics, nothing else. I've had an HP for five years and put it through the wringer. Any recommendations?

HP is definitely a good brand. Asus sucks though.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Fare! No Asus.

*Hugs our 5 ASUS brand electronics and hisses*

1 netbook, 2 laptops, 2 tablets. Only one of those bit the dust and that was no fault of the laptop. LMFAO It was plugged in during a nasty power surge and everything that was on that outlet cooked.

My roommate and I are nothing if not brand loyal when it comes to ASUS. Our desktop is an HP I believe though as it was a customized build. My roommate's ASUS laptop is from 2009 and it's still chugging along servicably after a good cleaning and system software update... And that poor thing has been through more than any laptop was ever built for. LMFAO

I had an Asus for a couple years and it was fantastic. I have an HP now and it's great, but I miss my Asus.

TBH I wouldn't worry too much with brands and would look more for a laptop that suits your needs for the best price, and then check online reviews of the product before buying just to make sure there's no big problems. Nobody makes a laptop to be purposefully crap! Regardless of brand, you've probably got the same hardware inside anyways.

Asus, HP and Dell are all good, though if you're going the graphics angle, Macs do that really well too? x)

I've always had Macs and recommend them to everyone (especially for graphics)! I'm really, really not a windows fan (although Windows 10 does look pretty great, and I've debated getting a Surface tablet). I love my Macbook Pro, and they last forever! This is my second one, but only because my first one got water damage. And I'm really, really hard on my laptop. I currently have 7 tabs in Safari, Photoshop, itunes, pages, Skype, and the calculator open and everything is still running at lightning speed!

I LOVE DELL, and Asus is a close 2nd.  My HP that I had I sent in for repair on 4 different occassions all for the same issue.  That kind of burned me on them. =  My dell laptop I used to have was an amazing machine!  The only reason I don't have it now is that I had to give it back to the company when I left. :(  It did everything and could even play demanding video games.  I miss it!

I've had everything from HP to Dell (have it currently), to Toshiba, to E-Machine (desk top) and back.

My HP is hearty and is on it's last leg, looking at getting it fixed tomorrow hopefully. This dell is okay, its running windows 7 and its new. It was a walmart display until they clearnanced out their old stuff. It's in good shape and runs like its perfect.

My HP had windows 8 and I updated it to windows 10 for free and it ruined the hard drive, part of why its on its last leg.  But it's still a champ even now, its about four to five years old.

I would stay away from Toshiba, they don't work very well and are poorly put together.

My Toshiba was okay. I don't remember what happened to it... I think I might have just sold it because it was a 15" or 17" laptop and that was just too big for my needs.

I'm looking to get the barbecued Asus fixed because I miss that thing. It was so pretty. I currently use an Asus netbook and I love it, but it's just not powerful enough to run something like photoshop... It does okay with Fire Alpaca though. The netbook was also a floor model that I got for under 100 bucks though!

Acer is the only one I've had bad experiences with. Both mine and my moms died from the same hardware failure (charging port coming off the motherboard) within a few weeks of each other and within a month of the warranty expiring.
