Okay, so the time has come to actually do a club revamp and we have plans for it, but we want to do a last-call for ideas!

We are only revamping the clubs at this time, associations will come this summer! We don't want to over-whlem with tons of new big features at once, so we're doing them separately!

So! Do you have any ideas on how we could encourage people to run for club president, participate actively in the clubs, and/or make them a unique feature from other games for HP?

Personally, as the admin who gets to go through clubs for activity, I'd love to see some things that'd make people more likely to keep their club active or for me to tell if they're active.Like maybe you have to pay a small fee to run for president? It's upgrades-only, you should have money to pay for prizes and such anyway, it'd be a small money-sink. -shrug-Or if you had to "log in" to the club page, and it would show when it was last logged into. Sometimes it doesn't look like people have ever been to their club page! Also, people should get an automatic message when they win a presidency. Some people put their names in and forget, which is sad.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but I think it would be nice for club registries to serve an actual purpose - as in, only registered animals can be entered in shows, etc. Most presidents make very reasonable registry guidelines. I know we already have this with associations, but then what exactly is the function of the club registries? They seem kind-of pointless (imo) as they are now. Just a thought!I also think all of Adranth's ideas would be useful!

If I recall correctly we are planning on it giving the animals some points?

Yup, a small point boost for registering with a club. But I agree with Misa, that's something I wouldn't mind seeing for clubs, either.

I agree on the club login being separate. I do believe that is how HL did it and it made it easy for all players to see if the president was active. As for voting I think voting should be allowed for all players. Especially if they have horses registered in the club. Should we, as the citizens of HP, not have the right to help choose who our president will be? I think that would be fair. Yes I think registered horses should have some sort of perk when in a club. Perhaps horses registered in clubs could win some sort of permanent award for some sort of achievement. That would be cool. It would help boost your animals breeding worthiness.

If voting isn't an upgrade-only perk, upgrades would need something to compensate for losing a perk. -shrug-

I think that there needs to be more incentive to run clubs. As of right now, all it does is drain you of money. I really like running clubs, but I take over a lot that no one runs in, and that means I don't have money to do contests with high prizes (but like I said, over half the clubs I'm president of, NO ONE ELSE RAN). So I think we need incentive for players to run for president. I think charging to run for president will deter the already few players who do (even if it's not a lot). People already don't run when they could easily win with 50 votes. Maybe give clubs horse and dog tickets to sell or just give a club stipend every month to help urge better contests. I do think logging in is a great idea to determine club activity. With shows, I think all horses and dogs should be able to enter in, but registered animals get more points (that's how it is now, isn't it?)

No, right now I think club shows are just double points for everyone.See, in the past, being a club president had a prestige factor. But here, no one cares. How can we get that back? I think that giving clubs tickets to sell would result in a lot of people just sending the money to their main accounts, which would be a mess. Or they'd just use them for their own animals, not to get money for the clubs, which would (in my mind) defeat their purpose.

To be 100% honest, I think associations wrecked clubs. I've wanted to pull out associations from the game for a long time now because I don't think they're serving their intended purpose at all. But no one likes that idea. And if they stay I think they should be seriously cut back, which I've also said before.

The associations are amazing. If it weren't for the associations it wouldn't be nearly as fun. Associations give the dedicated player to have their own place to give back to the game. For example, the Endangered Breeds Association has given me a wonderful place to spend my time on here training at risk breeds and creating new breeders of them. This is when you dedicate eveything to your association like you SHOULD if you have one. You CAN do this with clubs but it's not nearly as personal as when you come up with a the idea yourself to engage players. The associations are basically what made me come on HP and STAY here (when I first joining and deciding whether or not to play again) They might have killed the clubs a little bit, but they have given SO much back in return. They should be seriously cut back, I agree with that. Because many sit there and basically only accept pending animals. At the EBA, we try to engage, engage and engage players! For the clubs, to make it prestige, I don't think paying a fee would help, but they SHOULD be able to give out prizes that you can't get anywhere else. Like, and instant 10k on an animal, or horses registered get some kind of cool badge (maybe even gold, silver, bronze badges) Something that gives the club owner a bit more "power" to make it a more prestige position...

That's an interesting perspective, Bellicus :). Usually people kind of don't like or care about the associations.Their original idea was to give players a way to promote their own clubs, so I think maybe we should move more towards that with them. Differentiate them more from clubs.

I like the associations. On HL I tried to start up a Polish Arabian Registry and directory. It was really hard when I had to do some much manual work to get people to know about it plus I had to create a separate website. Super hard. This is a lot of fun here.

(I realize this thread was not about associations, but!) I also like the associations, and I love that they are an official part of the game.. unlike on HL, where you had to make a separate page that was difficult to maintain, as Midnight Velvet said, and it was impossible to contact all the members at one time. However, I think there might need to be a more stringent application process - kind-of like we have for adding new breeds. There are quite a few associations that don't do anything besides accept new animals and make shows, and some don't even make shows.. I know the activity checks help with this, but even so. Maybe an actual application is needed, with questions like "why do you want to run an association," "what will this association add to the game," "what do you plan to do to keep this association active," etc.? Just to show that the player has really given it some thought and isn't making an association that will end up just sitting around.I also agree that the clubs lack that "prestige" element - though on other games, that came largely from having the money to fund your TVing/vote-buying because the competition was so fierce, in my opinion. I like Bellicus' idea about prizes that you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else! They don't have to be huge, just something little to encourage players to actually investigate the clubs a bit more.

Just a suggestion to the clubs... I think there should be a cap on how many animals an account can put into a show.. I can't stand it when players put like 40 of their own animals in a club show. Perhaps if it were capped to 5 animals per account players will be forced to choose their project horses for the double points instead of flooding them out with every single thing they own. This doesn't bother me with the associations SO much because they don't hand out the double points.

i think the associations took over the club "prestige-ness"...since alot of people run their own associations and alot of them have to do with or are similar to the clubs already..no one cares...so why not just get rid of the clubs all together?!!

daily Pick a Cup game for like 10k, 20k, and 50k prizes? Sometimes you may even be charged $200 lolLet there be something to back out of running for a club, cancel yourself out.A daily chance too or search game on a map?Have a black image called pin the tail on the donkey and once you've clicked it, it'll show an image of where the pin actually landed?Trail rides sorta like what you have on Kitten Tracks! That would be awesome but you would have like 20 actions to do with chances of finding items or even tickets! The horse you chose to ride would have the chance of gaining a few minor points. May have like jumps on the ride that are challenges where the horse would gain more points or even a chance of injury that would require vetting. Major items found could be an extra show can be made (if the player is upgraded) or major item for basic players would be $ or player experience (for both upgraded and basic).
