After watching all the episodes of Buzzfeed Unsolved today I asked my hubby if he had ever had an encouter with a ghost. He's lame and boring so nope he hasn't but I have, and I love hearing stories about them. So I thought this would be a good place to do so.

So mine was quite a few years ago. I think I may have been a junior in highschool or so, and I was home alone getting ready for the day in the upstairs bathroom. While I was doing that I heard the sounds of footsteps that started from what sounded like my brother's room or my mom's room walking up behind me. Note this was not uncommon to hear popping sounds on the floor do to the floor settling, but this sounded distinctly like footsteps coming from behind. As I was turning around, I saw the shower curtain move. Now this wasn't just a little movement, it was the whole shower curtain doing sort of a wavy dance right in front of me. Also there were no windows in that bathroom since it sits in the middle of the house. I did have the bathroom fan running, but there is no possible way it would get the curtian plus the vinyl shower liner to move like that.

So of course after seeing it, I booked it down stairs and grabed the baseball bat behind the door. Which of course once I had a moment realized would do nothing against a ghost lol.

Ghost stories IRL are always creepy!  I told the story last year for the halloween story contest but I will share again.  It was so creepy!  I still get goosebumps thinking about it.  Eek!

My husband and I used to live in an apartment that was old and dated, but had amazing views of the River. The rent was a little spendy, but waking up to a beautiful river just outside our windows was worth it. The way it was set up you always had to pass by the master bedroom door on your way from the kitchen to the front room. Every morning I would wake up, grab my coffe, and walk to the front room to sit down and enjoy the river & wildlife. Some mornings while I would walk past the master bedroom door I would see a "figure" by the dresser in my peripheral vision. I would stop and look through the doorway, but nothing was ever there.

Fast forward a couple months to around 2:30am on a dark Saturday early morning. I woke up in a cold sweat, heart racing, and immediately sat up in bed. My vision was a little blurry and my brain foggy from the drinks we had with friends the evening prior. I waited for my eyes to adjust. With us being close to the river and away from the city there wasn't much light leaking through the blinds. I immediately directed my eyes towards the dresser and saw a tall dark figure. I closed my eyes and shook my head, and opened my eyes again. No more figure. I scanned the room, and nothing was out of place. I chalked it up to a weird dream and my eyes tricking me. I settled back into bed.

About 2 hours later my husband rolled over talking in his sleep (which is a very common occurence). Normally, it just wakes me up and I have a chuckle about his nonsense. This time it was different. There's never been a time where he rolls over, addresses me by name, and then tries to tap my shoulder asking what this man next to his bed wants.

"Allison, what does he want? Why is he here?"

I immediately sat up in bed and asked him where the man is. He responds with a slurred "over there" and sloppily points towards the dresser. I jump out of bed, switch on the light, and was able to slow the beats of my racing heart. There wasn't anyone in the room. There wasn't anyone in the kitchen. There wasn't anyone in the rest of the apartment. However, if you ask my husband and I still today, we were never alone.

Coming from Hawaii, we grow up on many various ghost stories and tales. Many i still think are hot air but others firmly believe in.

In hawaii we have what are called "Nightmarchers"

via wikipedia:

In Hawaiian legendNightmarchers (huaka'i pō or "Spirit Ranks," 'oi'o) are the ghosts of ancient Hawaiian warriors. On the nights of Kane, Ku, Lono, Akua, or on the nights of Kaloa they are said to come forth from their burial sites to march out to past battles or to other sacred places. They march at sunset and just before the sun rises. Anyone living near their path may hear chanting and marching, and must go inside to avoid notice. They might appear during the day if coming to escort a dying relative to the spirit world. Anyone looking upon or seen by the marchers will die unless a relative is within the marcher's ranks- some people maintain that if you lie face down on the ground they will not see you. This is to show respect. However, if exiting the area is the fastest option, it is recommended. Placing leaves of the ti (Cordyline sp.) around one's home is said to keep away all evil spirits, and will cause the huaka'i pō to avoid the area. Another thing is to always highly respect the night marchers which can result in great things.

One thing wikipedia fails to mention is you are actually supposed to be naked laying face down, it actually is supposed to make them feel "shame" for you. That was what we were taught growing up.

I firmly believe in them, I have done late evening hikes in locations, and once the sun set it became very creepyly quiet. I have heard chants and drums in the distance. I have also witnessed flame tourches in the distance. I have not come face to face, but have seen way to many "could have beens" and sounds that to this day I cant explain.

My mom and I lived in this house for about a year when I first moved in with her during high school. I never liked the house and always found myself constantly scared. One night her and my step dad were out of town for the weekend, just me and the dog were home. I locked myself in the bathroom, dog was in my room. While I was showering I had chills run down my spine and when I looked up I saw a perfect shadow of a hand reaching for the certain. So I screamed, opened the certain and no one was there. The door was still locked and the dog was going balistic in my room.

To this day I have NO explanation for it. That house had bad juju.

I remeber sleeping at my dads house, my feet were facing a closet. I had a nightmare one night of a demon dragging me into a cave by my foot. I remember waking up the next morning and my foot was on fire, I looked and had what to my dad and step mom looked like 3 teeth marks and scratches on my foot, same foot I was being dragged with.

My dad and I have had issues, along with my step mom. That house never felt safe since he remarried. I just get uneasy and sick staying there. Specially after that happened. And what startled us was that there was nothing at the edge of the bed to cause any sort of injury. specially like those.

Hawaii is full of ghost stories and paranormal things. There are many books out with various stories. Specially the famous "white lady" which was also mentioned in Supernatural. I suggest if you like ghost stories to look up some of the books.

I have experienced a TON back home, there are even stories amongst the locals that never made it into the book. Various stories for local areas etc.

The amount of stories and personal experiences in hawaii is crazy.

One story tho, still haunts me to this day and a few of my friends.

We were taking a drivers education class at the high school. It was late, class gets out around 730pm so it was already dark. My friends and I headed to the restroom for a potty break before we head to the front of the campus to be picked up. While we were in there we made jokes(I was a naughty high schooler) about the school being haunted. I was trying to look cool and a rebel. who wasnt at 16?

Anyways a stall door had slammed shut but it was just the 3 of us in there. We were nosey and opened the stall door and before you know it, something shoved me up against the wall. My friend who was right next to me froze and she looked pale. My head hit the tile. No one was there. SHe bolted and the other helped me out of the bathroom. The hallway was dim and dark. Like stuff out of a horror film. You could see shadows in this distance.

Konawaena High School was built upon an ancient hawaiian burial ground. The gym has many sightings. My mom went there and shes told me what she experienced when she was there. They have police sit in the parking lot to prevent "unfortunate" events from happening as my father was once a police officer and told me that. Kids went up there and did ghost hunts. And people tend to get hurt.

CRAZYNESS~

I haven't read any of these yet because I cannot. I'm by myself in this freaky house and I can't do it to myself LOL. But I have stories to share.

I'll only share this one for now because I don't have the energy to share the one with my dog.

OK so. Danny is out at a friends place drinking, i'm at home drinking by myself with some tunes blasting and getting housework done. In my element! Love these nights. I get upstairs done - bed made with fresh sheets and bathroom cleaned. I'm doing stuff downstairs and I hear a thump upstairs. Nobody is in here. Dogs are outside, danny is out. I thought maybe a dog snuck in *somehow* and went upstairs (although i'd hear their elephant feet going up the wooden stairs). I went upstairs, nothing, no one. But my freshly made bed was all crinkled like someone had been laying on it. I looked out the window and the sensor light came on, all 3 dogs were in the backyard playing.

Nothing has really happened since then, except literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I go up the stairs in this house, night or day, I feel like someone is following me up. My stairs are wooden and creaky but sometimes I hear a double creak on a particular stair when i'm going up. Going down is never an issue, just up.
