Sam's new cage

So, Danny and I have essentially moved to Sydney (3 hour drive from here). It started back in November when Danny got a new job there (same industry, different company) and he had been living there for the past couple months. I wasn't planning on moving over there until mid to late 2017 but I started to get sick of living by myself, so I half-heartedly applied for couple of jobs in Sydney and now I am working full time there The place we are in is a teeny tiny 1 bedroom flat which is adjacent to the landlord's house. The landpeople (I don't know what you call a couple landlord) are a 55-56 year old couple with no pets and an immaculate house and yard. For what we're paying in rent for it with electricity & water included it's great, but I HATE it. It's almost like living with your parents again. And the worst part is they refuse to have any animals on the property, including birds. So I can't have Sam with me :( Zoe, Odie and Whiskey are fine, they are used to being left alone for periods with someone else to look after them (usually my neighbour Jeff who loves them all). But having to leave Sam behind has really hit me hard. I haven't been away from him for more than a day since I got him and this past week felt like the longest week of my life! We're home for the weekend and I swear as soon as I got in the door I grabbed him out of his cage and cuddled him for like 20 minutes. ANYWAY, to the point! The cockatiels have a big cage already but Sam's cage was too small for him. It was okay for him when he was a baby but he's 5 1/2 months old now and he needs a big boy cage. So I bought him one today! I bought it from eBay but the seller has a warehouse in Sydney just 15 minutes from where I live, and they have Saturday pickup hours so this morning before I left to come home, I picked it up (saves like $50 in postage) So this is it!
Yes that is my large french-door fridge behind it. This is with Sam in it (it is NOT complete - I have a bunch more things to put in and it will all be re-arranged, this is just so you can see him in it)
I paid $220 for it and I am SO freaking happy. It's actually a fair bit bigger than I anticipated and Sam LOVES it. He's been climbing in and around it for HOURS and he is so happy! |

Congrats on the job, Ashypoo! Hopefully you'll find a better place to live soon. Sam's cage looks massive! What a good deal. |

Pretty much, yeah! Almost everyone I know has a single-door fridge with top or bottom mount freezer. When our fridge crapped out we didn't have the money to buy a new one but I really didn't want to go with a 2nd hand one yet again. So we applied for finance at the appliance store and were approved for $3,000, and spent $2100 on a new fridge. It's enormous compared to everything i've had in the past, family fridges included lmao. |
