I created the Finnish Flash in mid-2017 to bring more attention to the Finnhorse. I chose the name ''Finnish Flash'' because it's the nickname given to Finnish retired ice hockey player Teemu Selänne, but also because Finnhorses are commonly used as trotting racers in Finland. My goal is to make the breed as popular as possible by offering incentives to keep players interested.

The Finnhorse (sometimes called the Finnish Horse, or the Finnish Universal) is the only breed of horse developed fully in Finland. In Finland, it is thought to be a breed capable of fulfilling all of the country's needs, including agricultural and forestry work, harness racing, and general riding. As of 2007, the Finnhorse is officially Finland's national horse.

An official studbook was created in 1907, and many quality purebred animals were produced for years. However, mechanisation of agriculture and the dismantling of Finnish horse cavalry in the later half of the 20th century caused the Finnhorse population to drop from 400,000 animals in the 1950s to a low of 14,100 in 1987. However, the breed survived due to its popularity as a trotting racehorse and as a versatile riding horse.

There are 4 branches in the studbook, each with different goals for developing horses. Among all Finnhorses, one can see heavier draught types, the lighter trotters, the riding horse, and a smaller pony-type. However, all Finnhorses must be strong, capable of anything asked of them, and possess a pleasant attitude.

Finnhorses stand between 14.2 and 15.1 hands, and weight between 660 and 1350 lbs. They are mostly chestnut in color, with white markings on the face and legs, but they can be any solid color. The Finnhorse possesses a docile, but alert and work-oriented attitude. This, combined with the fact that they can be used for riding, farm work, and racing, earns them the name ''Finnish Universal.''

Tanaris #28295: a.k.a. your ambassador. I am the first breeder on HP and hold the oldest lines still in training, as well as the highest-pointed Finnhorse. I am on my 10th generation.

Reno #45118: she is currently the only active breeder who has a foal from my private (Amorphis) line, and has also purchased backups from some of my public lines. Reno also has her own lines, but her highest generation is 10.

Shadow #46614: she is on her 1st generation, having started her own lines. Shadow also bought some 5th and 7th generation backups from me in May 2019.

Anyone else wanna hop on the Finnhorse bandwagon? Don't forget that more breeders = more chances of me raffling off a foal from the private line!

Wonderful news: Tuonela is now the highest-pointed of her breed, surpassing her sire! He retired with 5.4 mill, and she's almost at 5.6 mill as of today and she's only 16! Thank you, 2-year de-ages :D

Two things: Tuonela and The Wanderer are now #1 and #2 of the breed and their filly, Summer's End (8th gen) will hopefully surpass them! Also, if anyone wants backups, let me know! The next ones can be available in a few weeks from the Amon Amarth, Turmion Kätilöt, and Suomeksi lines.
