This was inspired both a talk about travel in the Chat Room and Sam's post about where we live, only unlike hers, I do not want to talk about just my state in general; rather, I want to discuss the travel-brochure advertised or favorite locations that we like to visit/play at in our areas!

The rules are pretty simple!

- Your travel place MUST be an attraction of some sort

- You MUST have a minimum of 3 attractions per city/county {you are allowed to have MORE than this!}

- Can be somewhere listed in a brochure, travel guide or a hidden gem only you know

- Tell us a little about the place of what we'd see going there and why you like it!

I'll go first!

I have traveled namely through many counties in Central Florida, but listed below are my favorite attractions:

Daytona Beach:

South Beach Street ~ Affectionately known by locals as "Old Daytona" this place has many mom and pop shops that are just a hop from the causeway to the beach. Two of my favorite shops at this location is Two Sisters Antique Shoppe and Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory, due to being the home of handcrafted chocolates and authentic antique relics that no where else has. Right across from these is the beautiful Riverfront Park which overlooks the Halifax River and the Jackie Robison Ballpark Complex (Home of the Tortugas) and the Halifax Museum, which talks about the history of Daytona Beach. Some events here are the fleamarkets, car shows and movie night!

Daytona International Speedway ~ The Speedway, next to it's beaches, is one of the most famous destinations; while it is the official home of NASCAR, it also hosts other events throughout the year such as: Rolex 24-hour race, Daytona 500, Coke Zero 400, Country 500 and most recently a Ferarri Italiano Grand Prix; adjacent to this is the Richard Petty Driving Experience, where you can drive a racecar around the Speedway {On my bucketlist!}. Namely, aside from NASCAR, this is my favorite location as it is the homeplace of the state's biggest classic car shows. On Thanksgiving Weekend, the Speedway holds its annual Turkey Rod Run which boasts over 15,000 classic cars from across the United States and in mid-march their Spring Rod Run boasting over 8,000 models, to which I've attended three now.

Daytona Beach & Mardi Gras Boardwalk ~ Dubbed as "The World's Most Famous Beach", it is quite a hub for tourists and locals alike. The Mardi Grass boardwalk has a theme park of several rides include: the Sand Blaster rollercoaster, the Slingshot, Go-Karts, ferris wheel and a few kiddie rides. There is also a large arcade with many games and a pizza stall and icecream shop. It is surrounded by various stores and easy to find almost anything you're looking for! It is my favorite place namely for the Bandshell, which holds concerts at certain times of the year, the arcade, the Ocean Walk Shoppes which is home to Johnny Rockett's Diner and the Haunted Daytona attraction near the infamous Boot Hill Saloon.

New Syrmna Beach:

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse & Park ~ Known as one of both the tallest lighthouses in the state of Florida and the tallest in the United States, it is certainly one to see! The lighthouse is 175ft tall, which you can climb to see at the top all of New Symrna Beach, Lighthouse Park and the museum down below. While it is a small and quaint little place, what it lacks in size, it makes up in its rich history. It is one of my favorite places to climb to the top of the lighthouse, see the sights and learn about the ways that once were.

Marine Science Center ~ Located about 15 minutes from the Lighthouse museum and Park, this attraction is more of a hidden gem. The center is both a rehabilitation and research facility for the native wildlife off the Florida Coast. Inside, you can find a museum about all the wildlife and their history, the science of taggings/research and learn about the ecosystems of the beach turf and ocean. A little farther away from the Center, you can ride on a boat with scientists and see pods of Bottlenose Dolphins, Right Whales and exotic fishes. Being a science nerd and having a strong love for Zoology, this is one of my favorite places to see animals and study more about the Florida wildlife, their natural habitats and how they can be better protected.

Canal Street ~ Finally, our last stop is the historic distirct of Canal Street. While it is small, it is located right near New Syrmna's beach and similiar to Beach Street, has a lot of mom and pop shops. There is also a museum that talks about the history of Florida and its native Indian inhabitants. It is also home to a car show that is ran by the East Coast Cruisers Association (ECCCA) on the 2nd Saturday of every month, which is one of my favorite shows to attend. Unlike the Rod Run, it is much smaller and size and mainly local car owners, it's a great way to go out and meet fellow car enthusiasts!

Now it's your turn! What are your attractions? Let's see how many of us overlap!

Nidaros cathedral in Trondheim(some advertising from my city:P)

it is a Church of Norway cathedral located in the city of Trondheim in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. Built over the burial site of Saint Olav, the king of Norway in the 11th century, who became the patron saint of the nation. It is the traditional location for the consecration of the King of Norway. It was built from 1070 to 1300, and designated as the cathedral for the Diocese of Nidaros in 1152. After the Protestant Reformation, it was taken from the Roman Catholics by the Lutheran Church in 1537. It is the northernmost medieval cathedral in the world.
