Critique Wanted Please !

Hello, i would just like some critique on my art, my latest it this : Im getting a tablet for x-mas, yes the mane and tail are done by hand with my mouse agghhh! XD |

The tail looks great! One tip I would give on the mane is to make it softer at the tip, which is hard with a mouse I know.. maybe until you get a tablet you can find some mane brushes on DA that make the edges a bit softer for you...Depending on the background, I usually leave the crest of the mane as light as possible (different mane colours will vary) because generally the light hits there.. then, using the burn tool lightly (or another blending brush you have, you can put on a new layer) to make the mane look like it indents a little, and then the tips a bit lighter again..... but you can't do this heavy handed, it needs to be done gently... you use the same tone from top to bottom with not much highlight or "low" light on the mane.. hard with the mouse I can understand...You seem to make a crisscross motion with your mouse, so it looks the mane is more weaved instead of flowing, try getting the shape you want with going one direction with your mouse... Here's some brushes you can download you can play with to soften the tip of your mane :) Start with a medium tone under, and then a light tone on top.. play with the opacity... etc. and etc. until it somehow bends in.. I usually erase the top edges of these brushes... darker manes I find are easier than lighter manes... Hope this helps a bit!

Thank you, those brushes are pretty ace and i got a tablet for x-mas so im getting better at the manes :D |
