Figured it was time for a new thread for the both of them :P













One of the first things people ask me is "aren't you worried they'll bond to eachother and lose their bond with you?"

Short answer is no, that won't happen. While I hope that someday in the future they decide they like eachother enough to make some pretty babies, they are already bonded to me and the only way I would lose that bond is if I put them out in an aviary and never spent any time with them.

I'm seriously in love with Evie though. She is SUCH a pretty color.

Female eclectus are actually what got me so interested in them LOL. In the beginning I was dead set on getting a female and I advertised on my local bird trader website looking for a female and a guy messaged me saying he had a chick available but it's a boy, I have zero impulse control, and that's how I ended up with Max lol. God I loved that bird. 

Evie is pretty much perfect. She is a cuddle bug, but she is also independent and doesn't want to be with/on/near me 24/7. She does get a little jealous when Sam is with me though so we're working on that.

She is so stunning. I'm such a sucker for the color red. xD Dumb question - but I know they are the same breed of bird and everything, just different genders. I understand the different genders have differnt colors, but why are their beaks so different?

Kaleiya, where you are from can play a huge part in the cost of an Eclectus. I'm in NSW Australia and I paid $500 for Sam as a 4 week old chick to raise myself, and I paid $800 for Evie as an 8 month old. I know that the average price is $2k in NZ. I'm not sure about anywhere else.

Con, we have no idea lmao! For a long time the male and female Eclectus were thought to be entirely different species, because they are *so* different and that's pretty uncommon in parrots.

I was wondering about the beaks too! They are both so cute.

The first thing I noticed was those beaks, haha! Sam's got such a giant honker compared to Evie xD

She speaks! Lmao. She said "hello" to me as I was walking inside with my groceries today. And at some point her name must have been ruby because she also muffled "hello ruby" lol! It's okay. I'll get her saying "hello evie" soon enough :P
