Hello All!! omg I am so excited and happy to be the Stabyhoun Ambassador!!! I have been wanting to do this since I returned and saw this was added! Anyways enough about me now for the stabyhouns!

(From Wikipedia)

The Stabyhoun or Stabij is one of the top five rarest dog breeds in the world. Its is from Friesland and in particular from the Frisian Forest area, a region in the Southest and East of Friesland. The breed has been mentioned in Dutch literature going back to the early 1800s, but has only extended its range from the 1960s outside of Friesland and not until the 2000s did the range officially extend beyond the Netherlands. The Name Stabij translates roughly as "Stand by me" with the last part simply Frisian, meaning dog, which is pronounced "hoon". The dog is considered a Dutch national treasure. There are only a few thousand Stabyhouns in existence today worldwide.

OVERVIEW OF STABYHOUN POPULATION

Netherlands ---> Club Established: 1947 ---> Members: 2500 ---> Stabyhouns: 4650

Sweden ---> Club Established: 2000 ---> Members: 280 ---> Stabyhouns: 725

Denmark ---> Club Established: 2001 ---> Members: 175 ---> Stabyhouns: 375

Finland ---> Club Established: 2006 ---> Members: 120 ---> Stabyhouns: 272

USA/Canada ---> Club Established: 2006 ---> Members: 210 ---> Stabyhouns: 235

Norway ---> Club Established: 2007 ---> Members: 93 ---> Stabyhouns: 100

UK ---> Club Established: 2012 ---> Members: 75 ---> Stabyhouns: 80

The name Stabyhoun can be translated to the words “stand by me”, and this refers to their multipurpose. In Dutch, we say stabijhoon, whereas “houn” is the Frisian word f or “dog”.  Stabys are independent. Some people call it cockiness, others call it stubbornness or obstinance. But, in fact, it is independence, and that is something that is deliberately bred. The farmers wanted a dog that could work independently. And that property Stabys have retained still today. In case of insufficient and / or inconsistant guidance, a Stabyhoun can develop into a difficult and unstable dog. With proper guidance, you will have in a Staby, an adorable dog and a great friend for life. Stabys are very inquisitive. A nice feature, but at the same time they can also get into trouble. Generally they expect the boss to offer a helping hand. So always pay attention to what a Stabyhoun is up to, because with their inquisitive nature they also can fairly quickly find themselves in a difficult position.

Fun Facts from the AKC

        • The majority of Stabyhouns are Black and White; Brown and White coloring is also seen in the Netherlands, but the Orange and White Stabyhoun is nearly extinct.

        • The Stabyhoun has been assigned the Sporting Group designation

        • The first recorded litter born in the United States was in 1994

        • The Stabyhoun is condsidered to be an "All-Around" dog with, abilities in hunting, retrieving, and pointing. They are also ideal family dogs because of their size, and affectionate character.

I have loved the Stabyhouns since I first found out about them. My long term goal is to one day get an application sent in and accepted so I can own one of these amazing dogs.

I have 2 pairs right now (10/2/17) that are back ups and will be available after they hit 500k. If anyone would like a pair please let me know but only serious breeders.

So since I have said all the amazing things I can I will just post a few more amazing pics!

2 males and 2 females under the divider named Stand by Me. They are backups from my lines. They will go to their forever homes once they have hit 500k. If no one wants them they will probably just be deleted. I have a pair that I am going to be putting a lot of tickets into and im hoping that the offspring could be part of the Mascot Contest and if that pup and its partner do well I will auction off the backup pup.... depending on if anyone wants a pup or not.
