Crafters Unite! (Any Knitters, Crocheters, et al out there?)

I've seen here and there in chat sometimes that people on HP knit, but I can't keep track of who so I thought I'd start a post about it!
Do you knit? Crochet? Sew? Embroider? Hand / fiber craft of some sort? Introduce yourself as a crafter so we can all get to know each others' crafty sides. If aren't a crafter but have always wanted to, say hi too! ----------- I am: I'm a knitter. I started knitting in earnest two years ago. Before then my mom had taught me the basics but I was constantly quitting or dropping stitches and then feeling discouraged because my knitting would look ugly and I didn't know how to fix it. :P Experience: In terms of skill level, I call myself an "adventurous intermediate" when it comes to knitting. You can see my knitting Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/kuriosknits/ Favorite things to make: Garments. I love making sweaters. I'm crazy about garments. Shirts, sweaters, tanks. The construction of a garment is challenging and exciting to me. Plus there's often just enough mindless knitting in it to make it great for watching TV with. Other/Aspirations: I also learned how to hand embroider last year (still getting better at it) and I'm also learning how to machine sew. I looooooove sewing and my next big goal is to acquire all the pieces necessary to be able to sew on my own. (I love making garments.)

I'm a beginner in knitting and crochet, but I'm also not so consistent with creating things. I'll go some days without touching yarn and then I'll work on something for several days straight! I like doing crochet beanie hats, knit scarves and leg warmers... The next thing I want to learn is to knit a basic sock. I learned everything I know so far from Youtube. I decided one day that I wanted to learn, so I bought some yarn and needles and then it was just a watch-and-learn process. I've thought of trying weaving, but I think I'll wait until I live in a bigger house, because the looms can get pretty big. |

I am an intermediate crocheter and a very very beginner knitter (I only bought needles thus far). I can hand sew, but not very well and I used to be an active machine user back when I was a ten - it's been tenish years since I've touched one though. I cannot learn from youtube videos - I learned how to read patterns and stuff by written tutorials and books. You can show me how to do something a million times and I won't catch on until I read how to do it and then actually do it myself. I also do vinyl work and vinyl heat transfers (for myself and family). Hubs promised me a sewing machine / embroidery machine not last year but the year before for Christmas. XD I still haven't got it and I am kind of okay with that at the moment - I have been reading up on it and I am so scared I won't be able to remember anything I learned. So the next things I will be teaching myself is knitting, then sewing with a machine (hopefully). |

I crochet. I’ve been crocheting now for 4-5 years now and call myself an advanced beginner haha i make blankets. Huge blankets. Like full-king size blankets XD i also Tunisian crochet when I want a break from the blankets. For some reason I can figure out those stitches easier then others i started crocheting to help combat post partum depression/anxiety. It does wonders for anxiety. Just the mindless loops. |

So fun to hear about everyone's crafts! Maha, my MIL (who taught me how to knit) used that term with me - "advanced beginner" - I love it! I want to crochet a huuuuuge granny stripe blanket but I couldn't get the hang of it. I want to try again though! If anyone has specific questions about their knitting that can't be answered from online resources, feel free to hit me up and I'll do my best to help. What I loved about having my MIL as a resource when I first started out was having someone who could diagnose my specific problem. Tana - socks are way fun - technically challenging and interesting, plus, lots of cool patterns you can do on the legs! |

I recently bought one of those circle hat loom things and have been making some hats.
I've made about 10 so far and really like it. Not sure if that's considered knitting or what, or even if it's considered "cheating"...
It's fun for me and I'm getting into switching yarn colors on a hat now, so that's nice :)
Other than that, I'm a complete n00b. haha |
