Ok, so long story short, my Dad has an English Bulldog female that had puppies about a month ago! (They're suuuuuper cute, fat, wrinkly balls of joy). His friend from work had an English Bulldog male that was aggravating their great dane to no end so they asked my Dad to take him since he knew how to take care of English Bulldogs. He called me and asked if I wanted to take him off his hands as he is pretty busy with the puppies right now as they're super hard to take care and require a lot of attention. ANYWAY! I went and met him yesterday and ended up bringing him home with me :) Here he is!
He is about 10 months old and a super sweety :) Housetrained and hasn't tried to chew anything yet! He also knows how to sit and shake and today I taught him to lay down about 80% of the time lol I wanted to know if you guys knew of any dog toys that he couldn't tear up! He tore up the one I bought him realllly fast! I had to take it away from him as he punctured several places with his teeth.

YOUR BULLDOG IS THE CUTEST THING EVER AND SO P R E C I O U S, OMG!! I LOVE Bulldogs next to Frenchies!! Now that I've got that out of my system, in regards to indestructible toys/chews, I've owned a female Pug named Lilo who was rescued from neglect and chewed literally EVERYTHING in paw's reach so I can totally help you out! These type of toys/chews really show your dog in a new light as to what he or she likes and their tastes; some puppies I've worked with will chew or play with any toy, while others have a specific taste or texture that they like on their palette. The first month or two if he is this picky, will be hard to try and find this out, but once you do, you're golden! Below is a list of a few of the great products and methods we used to keep Lilo's chomping episodes at bay that I remember off the top of my head, hopefully they'll help your new Bulldog too!: Kong - Like Sass had mention, they're super strong and hardy. I strongly recommend getting the treat-filled type unless your Bulldog is diabetic or has certain health conditions where he can't eat snacks/has to maintain his specified weight. The treat-filled chews provide them hours of something to do and to gnaw without gnawing/destroying anything else until dinner or breakfast time. While I have seen people put things like peanut butter or bananas in these, this is not the best idea. It can draw undesirable visitors {i.e ants and roaches, eww!} which will make your dog not want to play with it. Plus, those things can stick to the toy and make cleaning/removing things REALLY hard, so I would stick to dry treats like Milk Biscuits, dry kibble, Beggin' Strips, etc. KONG also has a line of balls and other indestructible toys too, so they're a definite go-to for chewers! Rawhide - I know this seems cliche or like "the thing" every doy owner buys for their puppers, but they really do work for a hardcore chewer! Our rawhides we bought lasted about 2 - 3 weeks with obsessive chewing before they became a choking hazard and had to be switched out. The medium knotted ones are the best because the breed size recommendations for chewers never really last as long as they say they do. That recommendation is only good if they chew or play with their toys very minimally. They come in chicken or beef typically, but I believe pig ears count as rawhides {maybe??} so that could be an option too for him to try, but they do not last as long as a rawhide. Rope Toy - This toy is a give-or-take to some puppers, but if your Bulldog is one that's fond of this toy, this is the route to go! These toys are pretty indestructible and can take a lot of wear and tear {especially since you are tug-of-waring with your pet}. They're also quite common in many stores, especially online, so you shouldn't have an issue finding this one and they come in a ton of different colors/styles and shapes! The main thing here is to avoid soft/plushy items and to get hard, rubber toys like listed instead; so just experiment with different things in that vincinity - there's plenty, believe me - and see what your pup likes and what can hold up to his chewing jaws. Hopefully this helps and congrats on the new puppy!! :)

SOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE agh i adore bulldogs! I housesat many times one called murph, but he moved back home to canada (i live in australia) and i still miss him. I definitely recommend kongs. Also Murph has a real tough rubber tire toy and this rubber bone (i think it was a tasty bone?) both held up really well, and he loved to chase them around, and would even just run around the house with them entertaining himself. Oh and this stick? I dont know whether it was a special one or not because it was very hardy but it was great to play tug-o-war with him Rope toys can be real good, but um i know murph had to go to the vet once cause with all his chewing of it some ended up being swallowed and causing issues. But as you said your guy doesnt seem to be a chewer, and murphy was fanatical. Like he wasnt allowed outside without supervision because otherwise he would chew plants and seeds and end up choking and it was just bad (also like maybe some puppy pictures of the cute, fat, wrinkly balls of joy?) |

Thanks everyone!!
I bought him a rope toy and he realllly likes it!
I think I'll get a Kong next as it seems to be a good choice as well! :)
His name is Gus, but we're thinking of changing it as we didn't name him that and we personally aren't too fond of it.
He's pretty stubborn, so it can be somewhat frustrating to teach him things. I guess the last people didn't teach him manners as we constantly wants to stand on you when you're sitting down, which since he's a heavy dog, isn't the best idea lol I've completed animal psychology courses with real life applications, so I'm very versed in positive reinforcement and withdrawal of attention as a means of extinction of behaviors, but he just doesn't care. It's strange as I have trained many dogs in shelters stopping bad behaviors... |

Ohhhhh my gosh he's so, so cute!! We've had multiple Aussies and now a Border Collie who destroy EVERYTHING, including Kong toys and things marketed as "indestructible." Yeah, sure lol. The one thing we've found that no dog has been able to destroy are Cycle Dog toys! They're super tough rubber, made from recycled materials. Our BC has four of the High Roller balls and he's only been able to get them to stop squeaking, he's never ripped the toy apart or got chunks of it off! |

I used to have a chow mix. They destroy everything. She went through toys like water, so I became familiar with petsmart rofl. I also own a bulldog mix! I'd recommend a cow hoof or a deer antler. Those are the only things my dogs didnt destroy. Cow hoof lasted the chow 9 months before she was able to even make a dent in it. Get a large one. Deer antler... Personally, I'd recommend getting one without a split. They make synthetic ones, which are really good. Petsmart and petco have huge discounts on them every once in a while. |
