If you're making the entire meal or just bringing something, tell us what you're making!

I'm making everything but the desserts. I'm doing (all gluten free, of course):

Turkey

Ham

Mashed potatoes (going to try infusing the cream with garlic and rosemary)

Gravy

Cornbread

Sweet potato casserole

Roasted brussels sprouts with bacon and balsamic drizzle

Roasted green beans with a lemon yogurt sauce

Cheesy potatoes

Mac and cheese

Cranberry sauce (with blueberries and red wine)

Jalapeno poppers

and Kielbasa bites.

Sooo I'm not making anything lol. My mother wasn't much of a cook at all, she just doesn't enjoy it, so I never really had the chance to learn from her growing up. Before this year I'd stick to just a few recipies (for like regular dinner, not thanksgiving lol) - but a few months ago I signed up for Blue Apron and have been learning and it's my goal to next year to make a few dishes for the family Thanksgiving. We have anywhere from 20-50 people who go at staggering times so each family just brings a few dishes. I drooling over the roasted brussels sprouts with bacon and balsamic drizzle & the Roasted green beans with a lemon yogurt sauce... you may need to give me those recipies so I can practice with them!!!

Man! That sounds delicious, Sam!

My husband and I live in Boise, ID and aren't going home to Arkansas for Thanksgiving. It would cost us $1200 for both of us to fly out and then we'd end up heading back to Arkansas about three weeks later for Christmas. Anyways, we decided to have a Friendsgiving and a holiday treat making party instead. We are also having our own Thanksgiving on Thursday.

Holiday Treat Making Menu:

- Muddy Buddies

- Gluten Free Peanut Butter Blossoms

- Almond Roca

- Decorative Sugar Cookies

- Gingerbred Houses

Friendsgiving/"Tacos Giving" Potluck style:

- TACOS!!!!

- 7 Layer Bean Dip

- Chips

- taco fillings, etc.

Thankgiving Meal:

- Turkey

- Sweet Potato Casserole

- Garlic Mashed Potatoes

- Green Bean Casserole

- Stuffing

- Pumpkin Pie

It's been fun so far, but it was definitely an expensive grocery bill. :-P

Ooooh. So my in-laws are out of state, so it's just me, John, the little sweetpea, my mom, my dad, and my stepmom this year.

I handle the turkey. I super-slow cook mine all night (who needs to carve it when it literally falls off the bone?).

Fresh greenbeans (fatback and slow cooked all morning).

Cornbread dressing (which I could probably exist on for the entire holiday season because it is so freaking amazing).

Potato salad (southern style but no eggs because eww)

Mashed potatoes

Collard greens

Sweet tea

Thanksgiving/Christmas is about the only grand meal I can pull off. I use my Memaw's/Mom's recipes and make everything from scratch. It is exhausting but worth it.

My step-mom is German so she makes things a little differently. But this year she and my dad will bring

Honeyed ham

Green Bean Casserole

Sweet Potato casserole

Mac and Cheese

Whatever that fruit-jello-whipped cream stuff is that makes me want to get barfy but that my dad loves XD

And some kind of dessert that will probably be a chocolate mousse cake or German chocolate. :D

Ooooo, Stride, you'll have to let me know how you cook turkey like that!! :D

We're bringing the green bean casserole and pumpkin and pecan pies. My extended family is getting together at the nursing home so my grandpa can be with us this year. :) So everyone's pitching in and bringing a few things.

Awhile back, my family used to pick-up my Aunt and Uncle {whom live nearby} and drive to Sarasota, FL, for Thanksgiving with my grandparents and then we'd all meet up at my Aunt's house {or our house} for Christmas; after awhile the drive got too chaotic and my aunt had a triple bypass so traveling was nada, so we'd all meet at her house the day after Thanksgiving. Since I am in College and I attend the Car Shows after Thanksgiving like my grandparents used to, these schedules do not really work-out anymore so now we always see family on the week prior to Christmas.

We're having a different meal this year than our usual - we're getting tired of the traditional turkey and ham in this house, haha - and we usually have a big lunch throughout the day and then dinner, so our menu is:

LUNCH:

    • Jalepeno Poppers
    • Port Wine Triple Cheese Cheeseball {homemade recipe} w/ crackers
    • Cajun & Regular Devilled eggs
    • Rueben Sliders
    • Chips & Dip

DINNER:

    • Portabello Mushroom Wellington w/ Sage Dressing
    • Apple-Cranberry sauce
    • Pickles
    • Black Olives
    • Dinner Rolls
    • Sweet Potato Casserole
    • Mashed potatoes w/ chives or rosemary

DESSERT:

    • Sugar-Free Pumkin Pie
    • Traditional Sweet Potato Pie
    • Orange Chocolate Mousse pie w/ Chocolate Oreo Crust

I’m having a small thanksgiving at my moms this year. She is making the turkey and I am making homemade potato salad, which I have been doing for years. Normally I would go to my sisters for thanksgiving but my mom doesn’t have the money to travel over here this year, and I don’t want her to be alone on thanksgiving. :-)

So, I'm Canadian and didn't go back home to celebrate it last month. It's just not a thing in our family. In Finland, Thanksgiving just isn't a thing at all, but they do love Black Friday lol. I just wanna say that everything in your menus sounds amazing and I wish I could pop in and say hi to all of you xD I sure would love a few recipes, though, because I'd make these things all the time and any time haha. Maybe I can do a sort of Friendsgiving with my pals over here. Happy Thanksgiving, my friends :)
