When do you prefer to breed your horses? Like how many points do you prefer them to have before you breed? |

I breed at 20 years old regardless of points. Although it is preferable to have at least 1 mil pts by retirement (21). I, although I can’t speak for everyone, will pass over horses if their lines don’t meet my personal requirements. |

Basically what siib said! Although I keep other lines from my main line just to breed a mate instead of buying a store. At that time I just pick my longest lined pair even if they have minimal points. In the end they will retire with 1 mill and starting points aren't THAT huge to me. ☺ |

I prefer everything to be over 1 mill, if they do not meet requirements i will still breed them and make sure the lines become better trained :D |

18 for backups, 20 for finals. I do like all of my horses to be have at minimum 1mil, but sometimes it doesn't always happen that way. If they're close enough I'll breed them anyway; if not, I'll do a final breeding at 20 and skip the backups. |

I don’t breed back-ups unless there is a request for them as there isn’t a reason anymore. You are gaurenteed a live foal from every breeding now. But as everyone else has pointed out you should allow two weeks between a back-up and a final breeding.

Back-ups are first breedings (done typically at 18 for horses) that used to serve as a "just in case" back when the game had the option for stillborns or steril horses to be born. However, now that the game doesn't allow for anything but successful births back-ups are merely a way for a breeder to make money. OR for some breeders to ensure that they get the correct gender pairings that they want on certain lines (I just use the gender change from the cash shop but that's not an option for everyone). I will shoot for a million or more points before I breed but if I can’t reach that goal by age 20 (for horses ) 15 for dogs ! I will breed a week before they retire ! And hopefully you get a nice foal/pup with a good start ! |

Okay that makes sense. And im sorry to keep asking questions but what do you mean by "gender pairings"? Do certain breeding pairs only give birth to certain genders? |

No. Certain people want to cross certain lines though which means they have to get a filly from one and a colt from the other. So they'll do back-ups in hopes that they'll for sure get one of each. Also, never apologize for asking questions. :D Main acct: #6784 |

I just always do it the Sunday before the animal retires. Regardless of point goals. I always pair my animals off against stores, so. Link Tree |

I do the same as Blitz and Chao! The Sunday they turn 20 (for horses) and the Sunday they turn 15 (for dogs). I like to have all of my animals retiring/aging on the same days! |
