Random Doggo Habits

Do any of your doggos have some silly habits? Bristol has quite a few that are kind of funny and I figured I would share. → She will be sleeping on her bed in the living room and the second I get up from the couch she wakes up from a dead sleep and runs our the doggy door as fast as she possibly can. → We live near a baseball stadium and on nights they win they shoot off fireworks. Instead of being scared she goes outside and plants her butt in the yard to sit down and watch. → She absolutely cannot eat her food over her dish or over hard wood floor. She takes the food in her mouth and then carries it to the carpet or a rug to eat. Those are just a few wierdo things. What do your doggos do? |

I love reading these! Marley likes to pull the stuffing out of every single bed he has around the house... in an order.... twice a day. He starts in the porch, then the dining area, then the front room, then under the stairs, then the landing, my bedroom, my parents bedroom and finally my sisters bedroom. He's done it for years, and we've never been able to stop him. Our house is covered in fluff more often than not.
Ollie will sit in the conservatory and watch for squirrels all day. (He's developed rheumatism from doing this, lol). Silly doggos! |

My dogs don't do a ton of weird things but have a few qwerks: If Valentino wants something--to go for a walk, food, potty...etc., he will sit in front of me and stare at me. He won't whine, or move at all. Then I have to go through a series of questions (Do you want to go for a walk? Do you want to go potty? Do you want your dinner?...etc.) until he stands up and then I know that is what he wants. If I don't acknowledge him, he will just simply sit there staring at me until I do. I don't know if this is really odd for a puppy but Shasta is constantly falling or slipping onto the floor and bending into crazy little shapes. She'll do somersaults, or just bend her body into a pretzal shape. Not quickly either, just kind of slithering down putting her head between her back feet and flipping over backwards...and other gymnastic movements like that. She's constantly doing it. Shasta also likes to eat the spider webs that are on the grass. |

These are gold!
Both my dogs love to watch fireworks - Tia whined on New Years Eve when they were going off because she wanted the curtains open to watch them and the window open to hear them! (I was in bed ready to go to sleep). Tana - my sister's dog (kelpie cross) is scared of that oinking pig too as are my mums 3 GSDs. I keep meaning to bring it home to see what mine think of it but I have a feeling it will oink no more. Reneroo - My dogs do this too. Tia depends on her mood will just blatantly leap on the sofa or she will put her head on and then one by one the legs come up. Sam is more sedate and just rests his head on the bit of sofa he wants to lie on and waits for you to tell him "up". Tronic - Mine do the all legs in air and hold a toy between front paws (not sure if I have a photo anywhere). Sam very rarely does it. We play hide and seek in the house and out on walks. I go hide and then shout and dogs come racing into house (if I shut them out and get Rob to open it once I'm hidden) or come pounding upstairs. It's fab watching the noses go to find out where I am (closed cupboards in various rooms, under desks, in bath, behind doors, behind sofa etc). Outside I duck behind a tree when they up ahead preoccupied. Tia likes to be a lapdog although only her head fits on my lap - she has been known to come right over and sit on me. Put ear drops in her ears and Tia will take herself off to the kitchen and sulk for hours. After taking a toy to park, Sam has to carry it home in his mouth but he won't carry it there. If Tia gets a piece of food she's unsure of, she will throw it around for 5 minutes and pounce on it before actually eating it. She also throws her toys around the living room - sometimes she catches them and sometimes you get hit by an object whih is fine until the likes of yesterday when a rubber ball flew off my keyboard. Kong on ropes are forbidden in the house after she took hold of the rope and waved the kond around smashing it off my knee. If she needs out but you don't listen to her (nudging your arm and whining which are also done just for attention) she goes into the hall and runs from front-back door jumping the stairgate as she goes. Reading these I think Sam is quite normal and Tia is something else.

For a second I thought you had a dog named Tana, so I shut my eyes, shook my head, and re-read what you wrote. xD Your dogs sound pretty funny! I think all doggos have their quirks and that's what makes them all unique and lovable. |

Dogmeat - -Will run and slide under the fence first chance she gets then come back 5-10 minutes later and act like she has no freaking clue how to get back into the yard. -She is so good with my daughter that when they are playing and she wants to jump up on her instead she sits down and puts both paws in the air and paws at her like she's begging for something.
Teddy -My German Shepherd turned a year old in March - still thinks he is a lap dog. He has to be in your lap if you are sitting down. -Anytime Dogmeat is on a leash, I have to either have him kenneled or away from her or he play attacks her and she gets so mad. XD Off leash he is super submissive to her even in play. -When he is playing with the kiddos he likes to stick his head between their legs and lift up like he is trying to make them ride him. when that doesn't work he always drops down and rolls over and paws up at them until they take off running then he is right by them. |
