Every month on HP we pick a rare-on-HP horse or dog breed to showcase on the game! Along with our spotlight, we do a giveaway of a pointed pair of that breed, drawn as close to the 1st of the next month as possible.

this month's breed spotlight is: cleveland bay

about the cleveland bay

Not to be confused with the Cleveland Bay in Queensland Australia, the Cleveland Bay horse originates from England and is the oldest established breed from the country. They are always bay with the exception of a few light hairs on some horses. They are not only rare on HP, but in real life too! Only about 550 Cleveland Bays existed in the world as of 2006. They are used to pull carriages mainly, and are used in royal processions in Britain.

Well I’m from England and I’ve been thinking about starting them for a while now so I’d LOVE to win a pair! :D

This is my jam!! I did a bit with CBs back on HL in the day, and I couldn't resist starting up with them again here (especially when I saw how few there are/have been!) CBs were also historically very influential in the creation of a lot of warmblood breeds, particularly Oldenburgs, Holsteiners, and Hanoverians! The Queen of England has played a large part in making sure the breed hasn't fallen totally off the map in the UK, which is always something I found awesome! They have traditionally been used to pull her carriage in the past; I think there are photos floating around online!

I already have a set of Cleves started, so I will forego my entry for the store pair if necessary, but if anyone is interested in backups or wants to swap foals for future breeding purposes, let me know! :)

So forever ago I got them added but then life got busy and I decided to focus on my paints BUT I've actually had the pleasure of riding CBs as we had three of the like 500 left at the farm I ran for a while. They were broodmares but unfortunately two of them weren't taking, one of them was going blind. They're amazing horses and really can do it all!
